The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Manager is a hands-on finance leader and strategic business partner responsible for building scalable planning, forecasting, reporting, and performance-management capabilities. The role owns financial oversight for assigned P&L areas and partners closely with Sales, Marketing, Product, Procurement, Operations, and Shared Services to accelerate profitable growth, expand margins, strengthen spending discipline, improve forecast accuracy, and convert working capital into cash. The FP&A Manager translates complex financial and operational data into clear actions across pricing, trade spend, customer and product mix, demand planning, inventory, logistics, and operating expenses. This individual is expected to step into complex or rapidly changing environments, establish structure and accountability, identify and recover profit leakage, and provide executive leadership with forward-looking insights that improve business performance and strategic decision-making.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Build, standardize, and continuously improve scalable FP&A processes, tools, reporting, and operating rhythms for assigned businesses or P&L areas.
- Support the annual budget, quarterly forecast, monthly outlook, and five-year planning processes using clear business drivers, assumptions, risks, opportunities, and scenario analyses.
- Own financial oversight and performance analysis for assigned P&L areas, including revenue, customer discounts, gross profit, operating expenses, and key balance-sheet and cash-flow drivers.
- Serve as the primary finance partner to Sales, Marketing, Product, Procurement, Operations, and Shared Services leaders, translating financial insights into specific commercial and operational actions.
- Lead customer-, account-, branch-, channel-, and product-level profitability analysis to optimize pricing, trade spend, customer terms, product mix, SKU placement, and resource allocation.
- Identify, quantify, and drive profit-recovery opportunities across pricing, discounts, trade spend, freight, logistics, returns, claims, payment terms, procurement, and other sources of margin leakage.
- Develop value-chain and cost-to-serve analyses for existing offerings, new product introductions, customer agreements, supplier changes, tariffs, and other cost fluctuations.
- Partner with Sales and Product leaders on pricing and positioning strategies that support revenue growth while protecting gross margin and return thresholds.
- Lead SKU rationalization, product life-cycle, inventory, and demand-planning analyses to improve mix, reduce excess or obsolete inventory, release working capital, and convert cash more efficiently.
- Improve demand and financial forecast accuracy by integrating commercial, operational, inventory, and market inputs; establish accountability for forecast assumptions and variance follow-up.
- Partner with cost-center owners to develop driver-based budgets, eliminate unplanned operating expenses, strengthen spending discipline, and implement timely corrective actions.
- Design and maintain management reporting, KPI dashboards, and executive review packages that clearly explain performance, trends, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.
- Develop financial models for growth initiatives, pricing decisions, product and channel investments, cost optimization, working-capital improvements, and strategic alternatives.
- Design or improve variable compensation, incentive, and performance-measurement processes to promote accountability, accuracy, transparency, and alignment with profitable growth objectives.
- Standardize financial definitions, reporting methodologies, controls, and data-governance practices across business units and systems to ensure accurate, consistent, and well-documented information
- Collaborate with IT to implement and optimize ERP, planning, cloud-data, automation, and business-intelligence solutions that reduce manual work and enable scalable analytics.
- Use advanced analytics, automation, and appropriate AI or machine-learning capabilities to improve forecasting, scenario modeling, anomaly detection, and decision support.
- Provide financial training and practical tools that improve the financial acumen and ownership of branch, commercial, product, and operational leaders.
- Support business transformations, organizational changes, acquisitions, divestitures, and integrations through financial modeling, due diligence, stand-alone planning, and process design.
- Operate as a proactive, solutions-oriented advisor to executive leadership, independently identifying performance gaps and leading cross-functional initiatives from analysis through implementation and measurable results.
Knowledge and Skills
Exceptional commercial and operational business acumen, with the ability to connect customer, product, pricing, cost, inventory, and demand drivers to financial outcomes. Ability to enter an ambiguous or underdeveloped environment, diagnose performance gaps, establish structure, and build scalable processes. Strong executive presence and written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex analysis into a concise financial narrative and actionable recommendations. Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders, challenge assumptions constructively, create cross-functional accountability, and move initiatives from insight through implementation. Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and hands-on, with sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and a consistent focus on measurable results. Able to manage multiple priorities independently while maintaining strong collaboration, data integrity, and disciplined follow-through.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field is required; an MBA or other relevant advanced degree is preferred.
- Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible finance experience, including substantial FP&A, commercial finance, operational finance, or business-partnering experience in a multi-location, manufacturing, distribution, consumer products, services, or similarly complex environment.
- Demonstrated success building or materially transforming planning, forecasting, reporting, and performance-management processes in a complex, high-growth, or underperforming business.
- Proven ownership of large or complex P&Ls, including revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, working capital, and multi-year planning.
- Documented record of producing measurable results through profitable growth, margin expansion, cost optimization, profit recovery, forecast improvement, inventory reduction, or working-capital conversion.
- Strong experience with customer and product profitability, pricing, trade spend or discount structures, product mix, value-chain analysis, demand planning, inventory, and cost-to-serve analysis.
- Experience influencing senior commercial and operational leaders and leading cross-functional initiatives without relying on direct authority.
- Experience designing executive-level financial reporting and presenting clear recommendations, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership.
- Advanced Excel and financial-modeling skills; experience with ERP, financial planning, business-intelligence, and data-analytics platforms is required.
- Experience improving financial data, reporting controls, automation, and system-enabled planning processes; working knowledge of SQL, Power BI, or comparable tools is preferred.
- Experience supporting business transformation, acquisition, divestiture, integration, or stand-alone process development is preferred.
