Senior UX/UI Designer
Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Senior UX/UI Designer to join the ZPE Systems Team in Fremont, CA.
We are seeking a Senior UX/UI Designer to lead the design of intuitive, user-centered software experiences within our hardware-software product ecosystem. While the primary focus of this role is software UX, the role operates within a product environment where hardware and software are closely connected, requiring an understanding of how the software layer interacts with physical devices and infrastructure. This position leads the end-to-end design process from user research and discovery through wireframing, prototyping, and production-ready delivery, translating complex technical concepts into clear, accessible workflows.
Salary Range: $135,000-$155,000 per year

User Research & Insights
- Lead user-centered discovery efforts to understand user needs, define experience requirements, and shape product design strategy from concept through delivery.
- Conduct user research and usability studies with internal stakeholders and external customers to identify user needs, behaviors, and challenges.
- Translate research insights into actionable design recommendations that support product strategy and roadmap decisions.
- Establish and maintain feedback mechanisms to continuously validate and improve design solutions.
- Use quantitative data (analytics, A/B test results, heatmaps) alongside qualitative research to support data-informed design decisions.
End-to-End Design Execution
- Lead the design process from discovery and research through wireframing, prototyping, user testing, and final production-ready deliverables.
- Create and maintain design artifacts, including user flows, journey maps, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and design system components that represent the end-user experience.
- Design responsive, mobile-first experiences that function effectively across devices, screen sizes, and platforms.
- Partner with product management, engineering, and stakeholders to ensure design intent is maintained throughout implementation.
- Participate in design reviews, critiques, and sprint ceremonies to maintain quality and alignment throughout the development lifecycle.
Hardware-Software Experience Design
- Design software interfaces that clearly communicate hardware states, device status, diagnostics, and system health information to users.
- Collaborate with hardware engineering, firmware, and embedded systems teams to understand device capabilities and constraints that inform software UX decisions.
- Create workflows for device setup, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting that connect the physical and digital product experience.
Design Systems & Visual Design
- Contribute to the development and governance of the design system, ensuring consistency, scalability, and reusability across products.
- Define and maintain visual design standards, including typography, color, spacing, iconography, and component patterns.
- Deliver organized, implementation-ready design specifications and assets to support engineering teams.
Information Design & Simplification
- Translate complex IT and network concepts into clear, user-friendly workflows that help users take informed action.
- Design progressive disclosure patterns and contextual guidance that reduce cognitive load for both new and experienced users.
Content & Microcopy Strategy
- Develop and maintain in-product microcopy and content strategy that promotes clarity, confidence, and trust.
- Develop and maintain a voice and tone framework for product-facing content that aligns with brand guidelines.
- Collaborate with product and technical writing teams to create consistent, user-centered language across the product suite.
Accessibility & Global Design
- Ensure all design solutions meet or exceed WCAG accessibility standards.
- Design for global audiences with consideration for localization, cultural context, and internationalization requirements.
Stakeholder Management & Mentoring
- Present design concepts, rationale, and trade-offs to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to build alignment around user-centered design decisions.
Promote design-thinking methodologies across the organization and facilitate workshops that support user-centered innovation
- BA/BS degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in UX/UI design, with a demonstrated portfolio of shipped digital products.
- Expert proficiency in industry-standard design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, information architecture, and interaction design patterns.
- Proven experience conducting user research and usability testing and applying findings to improve product experiences.
- Experience designing responsive, cross-platform experiences for web and mobile applications.
- Working knowledge of WCAG accessibility guidelines and inclusive design practices.
- Experience designing for global audiences, including localization and internationalization considerations.
- Demonstrated ability to work within Agile/Scrum environments and collaborate effectively with product managers and engineers.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present and explain design decisions to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience documenting design rationale and specifications.
- Degree in HCI, Design, or related discipline.
- Experience in enterprise, SaaS, or IT/network management product environments.
- Experience designing software interfaces for hardware-software or IoT products, including device management dashboards, setup flows, or monitoring tools.
- Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and design-to-development handoff workflows.
- Experience building, scaling, and governing design systems.
- Background in content design or UX writing.
- Experience with data visualization or dashboard design for complex data sets, including real-time device or system telemetry.
- Knowledge of design operations (DesignOps), including tooling, workflows, and team process optimization.
- Experience mentoring or managing other designers.
- Familiarity with analytics and experimentation platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Hotjar, Optimizely, or similar).
- Certification in accessibility or hands-on experience with assistive technologies.
