Senior Manager, Application Software Engineering

We are seeking a Senior Manager to lead a team of software engineers working across platform services, workflow automation, observability, quality engineering, backend development, and AI-assisted tooling and embedded in an international development team. This leader will own the delivery and maintenance of a highly regulated interoperability service in Europe, help shape engineering standards, and build a team culture focused on execution, operational excellence, collaboration, and customer impact.

 

This is a highly technical leadership role for someone who enjoys building and managing teams as much as building software which is embedded in an eco system. During the early stages, you'll remain hands-on with the architecture and codebase to establish technical direction, mentor engineers, and ensure strong engineering fundamentals. As the organization scales, you'll evolve into a strategic engineering leader while continuing to influence and align architecture, technical decisions, and engineering excellence.

 

We're looking for a leader who embraces AI as an engineering accelerator. You'll champion practical adoption of AI-assisted development, agentic engineering, and modern developer tooling to improve productivity, foster innovation, and help your teams build high-quality software faster.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team developing cloud-native applications for and tightly aligned with Oracle Health's central European interoperability solution 

  • Design and architect modern, scalable full-stack solutions using Java, microservices, Kubernetes, distributed systems, modern UI technologies, and AI-powered capabilities.

  • Stay close to the code during the early phases of development, providing hands-on technical leadership, establishing architectural direction, and mentoring engineers through implementation.

  • Drive engineering excellence by leading architecture reviews, design reviews, code reviews, project management and technical discussions while promoting best practices for software design, quality, testing, security, and maintainability.

  • Guide teams through the complete software development lifecycle in a regulated context—from architecture and feature design through testing, deployment, production support, performance optimization, and continuous improvement.

  • Champion modern engineering practices including observability, automated testing, CI/CD, secure software development, API design, versioning, lifecycle management, and operational excellence.

  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows to accelerate software delivery and encourage innovative engineering practices across the organization.

  • Lead investigation and resolution of complex production issues, driving root cause analysis, system reliability, scalability, and long-term service health.

  • Collaborate with engineering leaders in both in Europe and India 

  • Build a culture of ownership, accountability, continuous learning, and customer obsession while coaching engineers through technical growth and career development.

     

AI-First Leadership Expectations

 

  • Demonstrate a consistent ability to apply AI-assisted approaches to improve team delivery, quality, and operational effectiveness across planning, design, execution, and troubleshooting.
  • Establish team-level standards for effective AI usage, including expectations for test generation, code review of AI-assisted changes, documentation quality, and responsible use in day-to-day engineering work.
  • Evaluate AI-assisted solutions through an enterprise lens, ensuring security, privacy, IP, compliance, and approved-tooling requirements are consistently followed.
  • Use AI to improve team productivity and operational excellence by reducing repetitive work, strengthening incident triage and analysis, and helping engineers focus on higher-value technical decisions and delivery

 

Qualifications

 

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or a related technical field, and 8+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python; or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience supporting healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7, FHIR, C-CDA, SMART on FHIR, and healthcare data exchange concepts (Anyone or more)
  • Experience delivering highly scalable REST or Micro services.
  • Strong system design skills, including data modeling, API design, distributed systems, and performance/reliability tradeoffs.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering across functions to deliver results in ambiguous and fast-moving environments.
  • Experience in Intercultural Engineering Teamwork.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Experience leading teams working on platform engineering, infrastructure, database, workflow automation, observability, or AI-assisted software delivery.
  • Background in cloud-native development and operations (OCI strongly preferred; AWS/Azure/GCP acceptable).
  • Understanding of cloud-native concepts like IAM, authorization, secure service-to-service communication, and secure software delivery practices.
  • Experience building or supporting internal developer tooling, test automation, release tooling, or operational dashboards.
