Job Description
Parental Leave Cover (until January 2028)
The Bid & Pursuits Manager will lead the delivery of high-quality bids, tenders, EOIs and proposals across the ANZ business. This role is responsible for managing the end-to-end pursuit lifecycle, from opportunity assessment and bid strategy through to submission and interview preparation.
Working closely with technical and operational stakeholders, the successful candidate will drive bid excellence, governance, compliance and win strategy across major opportunities.
This is an internal work-winning role focused on bids and pursuits. It is not a client-facing sales, account management, marketing or business development position. The role does not carry individual sales targets or direct client relationship responsibilities.
We are seeking an experienced bids and pursuits professional who is equally comfortable providing strategic advice and managing the day-to-day delivery of complex submissions. The successful candidate will be confident influencing stakeholders, challenging constructively and delivering high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the strategic approach and execution of multi-million-dollar proposals, tenders and bid responses. This includes:
Reviewing procurement documentation, leading bid go/no go discussions, and formulating a clear plan for delivering a compelling offer.
Providing strategic guidance, bid and pursuit leadership across key opportunities, ensuring teams are appropriately resourced, aligned and supported throughout the submission process.
Complying with the Turner & Townsend “bid to win” process and governance requirements
Facilitating discussions focused on differentiators, win themes and content to ensure high quality answers are developed.
Working with Board-level directors and other functional teams to deliver tender responses through collation of information, writing tender responses directly, or supporting others to produce quality responses.
Working with external organisations and partners to develop and deliver bids and proposals.
Delivering a professional bid that complies with brand guidelines and clearly and succinctly communicates key messages.
Providing constructive feedback or escalating concerns to senior leadership and partner organisations throughout the bid and interview process
Ensuring that all deadlines are met and that bids are submitted on time, and in the correct manner.
- Supporting pursuit planning and opportunity positioning through competitor analysis, win strategy development, lessons learned and client research.
- Providing guidance on service capability positioning and value propositions to strengthen submission quality and competitiveness.
- Coordinating interview preparation, presentation coaching and rehearsal activities for shortlisted pursuits.
Building pursuits and work-winning capability across the ANZ business through coaching, guidance, tools, best practice and continuous improvement initiatives.
Reporting on pipeline and bid conversion at Senior Leadership levels, including providing analysis and commentary on trends.
Contribute to content libraries and best practice approaches by overseeing maintenance of content and bid libraries.
Who suits this role
- This role is ideal for a bids, tenders or pursuits professional looking to step into a manager-level position.
- While the role title includes "Manager", it is primarily an individual contributor role rather than a large people leadership role.
- We anticipate applicants will typically have approximately 4-8 years of relevant bids, pursuits, submissions or proposal management experience.
- Candidates whose experience is primarily in sales, business development, account management or marketing without significant tender and proposal experience may not be suited to this role.
Qualifications
4-8 years' experience in bid management, pursuits, tender management, proposal management or a related work-winning discipline.
Demonstrated experience managing competitive tender submissions, EOIs, RFPs and RFQs from commencement through to submission.
Experience coordinating multidisciplinary contributors and managing complex submission programs.
Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills, with a strong focus on quality, compliance and persuasive content development.
Strong analytical, organisational and project management capabilities.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and proposal development tools.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior technical and operational professionals.
APMP accreditation highly regarded.
Experience within engineering, infrastructure, construction, property, consulting or professional services environments highly desirable.
Based in Australia with full working rights; relevant degree (e.g., Engineering, Business, Marketing, English) and APMP accreditation advantageous; industry knowledge in energy & natural resources, real estate, infrastructure, or construction beneficial.
