Principal Application Software Engineer

OCI Resource Analytics is an inventory of OCI resources, their relationships, and configuration metadata powering customers to have visibility into their cloud inventory. Our platforms process and analyse massive volumes of infrastructure and business data to deliver near real-time insights, capacity planning, forecasting, and AI-powered recommendations.

In this role, you will lead the architecture, design, development, and delivery of scalable, cloud-native applications throughout the full software development lifecycle. You will drive engineering excellence by leading technical design discussions, conducting code reviews, mentoring engineers, and promoting best practices in software architecture, secure coding, testing, automation, and operational excellence. You will collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate customer requirements into high-quality, resilient solutions while leading complex, cross-organizational initiatives.

We are looking for a seasoned engineer with deep expertise in building large-scale distributed systems, cloud-native applications, data platforms and business intelligence. The ideal candidate has strong experience with Java, microservices, and distributed data processing, and will lead the development of scalable data infrastructure and real-time analytics solutions that power critical OCI services. This role requires a strong technical leader who can independently drive architecture, execution, and innovation while mentoring engineers and delivering highly available, high-performance systems.

Key Responsibilities Application Software Development:

• Design, architect, and build scalable, highly available distributed systems and analytics platforms using modern cloud-native technologies.
• Lead the technical design and implementation of large-scale systems, driving architecture decisions, design reviews, and engineering best practices.
• Drive performance, reliability, security, and operational excellence across production services through automation, observability, and continuous improvement.
• Mentor and coach engineers, fostering technical excellence through design reviews, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
• Lead complex cross-functional projects from architecture through production deployment, ensuring high-quality execution and timely delivery.
• Collaborates with Designers, Product Managers, Software Engineers, Customers and stakeholders when evaluating and integrating customer specifications and business requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience designing and building large-scale distributed systems and cloud-native applications.
• Strong proficiency in Java and extensive experience building and deploying production-grade microservices.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, data modeling, data processing and analytics architectures.
• Experience designing and building cloud-native platforms on OCI, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with business intelligence and analytics technologies such as Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC), Tableau, or Power BI is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of REST APIs, containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes), CI/CD, DevOps, observability, and performance optimization.
• Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives, influence architectural decisions, and mentor engineering teams.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional engineering organizations.
