Safety-Kleen Systems, in Metairie, LA, is hiring for a Laboratory Chemist to join their safety conscious team! This team member is responsible for conducting qualitive chemical analyses and experience in laboratories for quality control. This role involves working with various chemical substances, instruments, and techniques to support production, ensure compliance and drive innovation, in adherence to all health and safety policies and procedures. 

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 6AM-2:30PM; Occasional Saturday as needed.

Hourly Wage Range: $22/HR + based on experience

  • Performs basic analysis of samples, following all health & safety, operational and compliance standards.
  • Completes all paperwork (digital & physical) and communication that is associated with the analyses, in a prompt, clear and accurate manner (ex: calibration logs, run logs, etc.).
  • Calibrates, maintains and operates various types of analytical equipment in compliance with chemical hygiene plan.
  • Responsible for proper management of the waste generated from the chemical processes of analysis.
  • Reviews all applicable laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs), annually, and achieves a satisfactory score on SOP quizzes;
  • Responsibility for maintaining a clean and organized work environment while communicating inventory needs.

What does it take to work for Safety-Kleen?

  • Must be willing and able to work at both the St. Rose, LA and Metairie, LA facilities on a rotating weekly schedule. Locations are approximately 10 miles apart.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or another related science field required;
  • Ability to review, verify, and maintain accurate records in electronic databases and tracking systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) with the ability to accurately maintain laboratory records, analyze data, and prepare reports.
  • Strong problem solving skills;
  • Good organization skills, decisiveness and initiative;
  • Ability to work in a team environment;
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations;
  • Solid understanding of math, chemistry and chemical testing;
  • Experience in a laboratory setting;
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs;
