Senior Hazardous Waste Operations Supervisor

Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking a Senior Hazardous Waste Operations Supervisor for our Casa Grande, AZ team.  

The Senior Hazardous Waste Operations Supervisor oversees the fuels blending, lab pack decommissioning/repackaging and hazardous waste solid consolidation activities at the Triumvirate Casa Grande, Arizona facility. The ideal candidate will possess experience in the hazardous and non-hazardous waste industry. We are seeking a professional capable of working side by side with our Plant Manager optimizing safety, compliance, and hazardous waste throughput.

This position reports to the Plant Manager. This role is onsite at our Casa Grande, AZ facility.

Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of hazardous waste operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness. The areas of oversight include,
    • Fuels blending
    • Lab pack decommissioning/repackaging
    • Hazardous waste solids consolidation
    • Management of gas cylinders
    • Management of oxidizers and reactive waste materials
  • Assist in developing and implementing operational strategies to optimize processes.
  • Lead, train, and mentor staff to foster a high-performance culture.
  • Ensure all areas of oversight meet quality and regulatory standards
  • Work alongside Plant Manager to implement quality control measures.
  • Works collaboratively with Environmental, Health and Safety personnel to develop and enforce safety protocols and procedures to protect employees and the environment.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels of incoming and outgoing hazardous waste materials.
  • Evaluates and enhances existing processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize environmental impact.
  • Establish relationships with downstream kilns
  • Establish relationships with rail operators
  • Oversee rail related logistics activities.
  • Ensure all operations are follow permitted activities are in full compliance with regulations and standard operating procedures
  • Recommend hires and retain employees.
  • Regularly analyze and assess industry and market trends.
  • Build relationships with local and state agencies (fire dept., health dept., licensing bureaus, Department of Environmental Quality, etc.)
  • Develop technical expertise and knowledge of the company’s hazardous waste management programs
  • Share recommendations with the plant manager for new products, services and identified areas of optimization.
  • Rotating on-call responsibilities as part of our Emergency Response team   

Basic Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build, lead teams, provide direction to staff along with regular reporting to senior management. 
  • 5-10+ years’ experience within the hazardous fuels operations industry.
  • Specific experience importing/exporting hazardous fuels waste between the nations of Mexico and the United States.
  • Proven experience in a managerial role with strong leadership and team building skills
  • In depth knowledge of safety regulations and quality control processes
  • Possess strategic, rail transportation, planning, warehousing and rail logistics, problem analysis, and creativity skills.
  • Bilingual in English & Spanish preferred
  • Expertise in all MS suite applications with strong Excel skills.
  • Excellent math skills.
  • Education: Bachelors and/or Master’s degree preferred.
  • 40-hour OSHA Hazwoper Certification w/ current 8-hr refresher
  • D.O.T. Hazardous Materials Training
  • Able to obtain and maintain a fork truck license
  • Personality conducive to teamwork
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship 
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation 
  • Must be willing to consent to Motor Vehicle Record screening, criminal background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screen (inclusive of THC) 
  • Upon employment, you will be required to participate in a random drug screening program (inclusive of THC) as part of our company’s commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment 
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds on a regular basis 
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours within the work week (Monday through Friday) 
  • Must be able to report to designated office within 1 hour during Emergency Response rotating shifts 
  • This person will frequently handles hazardous chemicals and biological waste and is responsible for putting on and taking off personal protective equipment. This role is considered safety-sensitive.
