Principal Data Center Operator (APEX Developer)
This role combines Oracle APEX development, DevOps engineering, and Product Ownership to deliver secure, scalable, and automated solutions that enhance operational efficiency across OCI. The successful candidate will own the full application lifecycle—from product strategy and requirements gathering through development, testing, CI/CD, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing support.
Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, and Product teams, you will champion modern DevOps practices, drive automation initiatives, and deliver applications that enable operational excellence across Oracle's global cloud infrastructure.
Product Ownership
- Define and own the product vision, roadmap, and backlog for DCSO operational applications.
- Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and prioritize enhancements based on business value.
- Translate operational needs into technical solutions and actionable user stories.
- Lead release planning and product lifecycle management.
- Measure product adoption and drive continuous improvement through user feedback and operational metrics.
Oracle APEX Development
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade Oracle APEX applications.
- Develop scalable solutions using Oracle APEX, Oracle Database, SQL, PL/SQL, JavaScript, REST APIs, and OCI services.
- Build intuitive dashboards, workflow automation, reporting, and operational tools supporting global data center operations.
- Optimize application performance, security, scalability, and maintainability.
- Ensure adherence to Oracle development standards and best practices.
DevOps & Automation
- Champion DevOps culture and continuous improvement across the application development lifecycle.
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Oracle APEX applications using Git-based source control and automated deployment processes.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management practices where appropriate.
- Automate testing, deployment, monitoring, and operational workflows.
- Integrate applications with enterprise systems using APIs and event-driven architectures.
- Monitor application health, reliability, and performance using observability and logging tools.
- Drive automation initiatives that eliminate manual processes and improve operational efficiency.
Operational Excellence
- Deliver applications that improve operational visibility and decision-making.
- Support incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident process improvements.
- Identify opportunities for automation and self-service capabilities across DCSO.
- Collaborate with Site Operations teams to improve workflows and operational effectiveness.
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical leadership across application architecture, development, and DevOps initiatives.
- Lead design reviews and architectural discussions.
- Advocate for secure development, automation, and continuous delivery principles.
- Foster collaboration across globally distributed engineering and operations teams.
Education and/or Experience:
11 years of experience in IT infrastructure support, server administration, or data center operations, design, and layout
OR
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field AND 7 years of experience in IT infrastructure support, server administration, or data center operations, design, and layout
OR
Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field AND 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure support, server administration, or data center operations, design, and layout
OR
Doctorate in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field AND 3 years of experience in IT infrastructure support, server administration, or data center operations, design, and layout.
Job Skills:
Data Center Equipment: Demonstrated experience in installation, maintenance, and upgrades of data center physical equipment.
Data Center Operations: Demonstrated ability to perform on-site IT infrastructure support within a data center environment.
Troubleshooting: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across multiple technology domains.
Root Cause Analysis: Demonstrated ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective action plans.
