Join the dedicated team on Cleveland Clinic's H80 Internal Medicine Unit, where caregivers provide compassionate, high-quality care to a diverse patient population. H80 specializes in treating patients with a variety of complex medical conditions, including congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, pneumonia, diabetes, sepsis, gastrointestinal bleeding, myocardial infarction and angina.
Caregivers on H80 are supported by experienced clinical instructors and clinical nurse specialists who provide ongoing education, mentorship and clinical expertise. Annual competency training includes age-specific care and cardiac dysrhythmia/EKG interpretation, ensuring caregivers continue to grow their knowledge and deliver exceptional patient care.
As a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC), you will play an essential role in creating a welcoming and organized environment for patients, families and visitors. By providing exceptional customer service and utilizing your strong administrative and clerical skills, you will help coordinate the daily operations of the unit, support the healthcare team and contribute to a seamless patient care experience. Your attention to detail and commitment to teamwork will help ensure caregivers can focus on delivering the highest quality care to every patient.
A caregiver in this position works days. 7:00am—7:30pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED
One year of experience in a customer service-related role
Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
College degree
Microsoft Office experience
Physical Requirements:
- Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
- Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision.
- Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
