EOI - Communications Engineer
The Communications Engineer is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of Village Entertainment Systems (VES) and associated communications infrastructure within client accommodation villages, camps, remote sites, and workforce accommodation facilities. The role ensures reliable delivery of television, satellite, IPTV, streaming, radio, internet, and associated entertainment services that support occupant wellbeing and operational requirements.
The position requires strong technical knowledge across structured cabling, networking, and digital entertainment platforms, with a focus on maintaining high service availability and customer satisfaction.
The role is based in regional WA on a 2 week on/ 2 week off FIFO roster.
Self-motivated individual able to think outside the box, providing exceptional customer service and troubleshooting skills. Must be proactive and organized, to assist a user base working around various shifts. Excellent written skills essential, ensuring that ticketed work is documented, and SOPs are maintained and updated.

Essential Job Functions:
- Provide expert technical support in infrastructure services, responding to complex issues and inquiries.
- Assist in the implementation of infrastructure projects and initiatives, executing assigned tasks.
- Continuously monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure systems, ensuring optimal performance.
- Collaborate with the team to improve infrastructure efficiency and resolve technical challenges.
- Participate in the development of infrastructure documentation, including incident reports and configuration details.
- Apply deep technical knowledge to address complex infrastructure-related problems.
- Follow established best practices and standards in infrastructure service delivery.
- Apply critical thinking and technical skills to find solutions to infrastructure issues.
Provide technical support in infrastructure services, responding to issues and assisting in tasks. - Contribute to the implementation of infrastructure projects and assignments.
- Monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure systems, ensuring reliability and performance.
- Work with the team to enhance infrastructure effectiveness and address technical challenges.
- Support the development of infrastructure documentation, including incident logs and configuration records.
- Apply technical knowledge to address infrastructure-related challenges.
- Follow established best practices and standards in infrastructure service delivery.
- Utilise technical skills to address infrastructure issues and incidents.
- There will be a requirement to support
- Network Analysis and Troubleshooting: Analyze and resolve issues within communication networks to maintain optimal performance
- Technology Implementation: Integrate new technologies and upgrade existing systems to enhance communication capabilities
- System Maintenance: Inspect, maintain, and keep detailed records of communication systems
- Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and meet communication needs
- Installation \ Replacement of TVs, Access Points
- Security installer licence would be advantageous or ability to apply for\obtain a Security Consultant Licence (WA Police)
- Be prepared to provide backfill as a Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) role in support of some of DXC's clients. This will be on an adhoc basis as required
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with GPON networks
- Familiarity with Satellite and Cable TV
- Familiarity with remote mine and processing residential camp environments
- Basic cabling skills/certification including SELV DC Voltage Systems

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Typically, 5+ years of relevant work experience in industry, with a minimum of 2 years in a similar role
- Proven experience in infrastructure technology analysis
- Proficiencies in data analysis and problem-solving
- A continuous learner that stays abreast with industry knowledge and technology
Other Qualifications:
- An advanced degree in a relevant field is a plus
- Relevant certifications, such as Cisco CCNA, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or CompTIA Security+, are a plus
