Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Director and direct supervision of the Charge RN, the Monitor Technician will perform the following duties:
- Admit and discharge patients from the cardiac monitoring system
- Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry for assigned patients.
- Communicate cardiac rhythm changes to nursing staff promptly and accurately, as requested or when clinically indicated.
- Print and interpret cardiac rhythm strips in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Ensure rhythm strips are forwarded to the Unit Secretary for appropriate filing.
- Manage telemetry equipment and alarm settings in compliance with departmental policies.
- Apply critical thinking skills to effectively monitor patients, recognize rhythm abnormalities, and communicate findings.
- Enter billing information for telemetry services and other applicable patient charges accurately and timely.
- Maintain compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and patient monitoring standards.
