Safety Engineer - IBMS, Ahmedabad (1-Year Contract Role)
Johnson Controls delivers innovative building technologies that support smarter, healthier, and more sustainable environments. In this role, you will help ensure safe execution of IBMS site activities with a strong focus on IBMS, CCTV, and ACS, while working on-site in Ahmedabad. This is a one-year contractual opportunity, renewable annually based on performance.
You will work closely with project and site teams to maintain a safe working environment, support compliance on active project areas, and help ensure that safety standards are consistently followed during installation, testing, and handover activities.
Role Overview
As a Safety Engineer, you will support site safety oversight across IBMS projects by monitoring work practices, identifying risks, verifying compliance, and following up on corrective actions. This role is well suited for someone with Safety or EHS experience and practical exposure to IBMS environments, especially projects involving CCTV and ACS systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor site safety conditions and support safe execution of IBMS activities, including CCTV and ACS-related work.
- Conduct routine site safety inspections and observations to identify hazards, unsafe practices, and compliance gaps.
- Support implementation of safety procedures, permit requirements, PPE usage, and site discipline.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to close safety observations in a timely manner.
- Maintain safety records, inspection reports, incident notes, and follow-up documentation.
- Support risk awareness across installation, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Communicate safety expectations clearly to site teams and help reinforce safe work practices.
- Escalate critical safety concerns promptly and support corrective and preventive actions.
How You Will Do It
- Stay close to the work site and verify that safety controls are applied before, during, and after IBMS activities.
- Own safety observations through to closure with accountability, integrity, and clear follow-up on corrective actions.
- Use candid reporting and practical problem-solving to remove obstacles and improve site safety every day.
- Work as one team with project stakeholders, building trust through clear communication and shared standards.
- Keep documentation accurate and timely so that risks, actions, and progress remain visible to all stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Safety, EHS, or a related field.
- Experience in Safety or EHS roles on IBMS, ELV, or building services projects.
- Hands-on familiarity with IBMS, CCTV, and ACS.
- Working knowledge of site safety practices, hazard identification, risk controls, and compliance monitoring.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, site plans, and work instructions.
- Strong communication, coordination, observation, and reporting skills.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to large-scale infrastructure, commercial, or facility management projects.
- Experience supporting installation, testing, or commissioning activities in active project environments.
