Job Description:

Job Summary

The Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and upgrading electrical systems and equipment throughout an aluminum manufacturing facility. This position supports production operations by ensuring the reliable and safe operation of manufacturing equipment, power distribution systems, motors, drives, and associated electrical components. The Electrician works closely with production and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and maintain compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical systems, machinery, and plant equipment.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Install, maintain, and repair motors, motor control centers (MCCs), transformers, switchgear, breakers, and power distribution systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair PLCs, variable frequency drives (VFDs), sensors, instrumentation, and automated control systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams.
  • Install and route conduit, wiring, cable trays, and related electrical infrastructure.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and electrical emergencies in a timely manner.
  • Support maintenance shutdowns, equipment upgrades, and capital improvement projects.
  • Perform electrical testing using meters, megohmmeters, thermal imaging equipment, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Assist with commissioning and startup of new equipment and systems.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and inspection documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC, company safety policies, and environmental regulations.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and productivity.
  • Coordinate with production personnel to safely isolate equipment during maintenance activities.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in electrical rooms, substations, and work areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of an electrical apprenticeship program, technical school, or equivalent experience.
  • Journeyman Electrician license preferred where applicable.
  • Minimum of 3 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience; manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems up to 480V and higher-voltage systems where applicable.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment and automated manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of AC/DC circuits, motors, controls, instrumentation, and automation systems.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient in the use of electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
  • Commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in an industrial aluminum manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust, vibration, and moving mechanical equipment.
  • May be required to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and respond to emergency call-ins.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including arc-flash protection.
  • May involve exposure to noise, moderate temperatures, and handling of materials.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs or more.

Able to perform in a high-pressure fast paced environment.
