Job Description

Summary

The Principal, Trade Initiatives provides oversight and management of key initiatives for the Trade Relations department, including projects and programs supporting regulatory compliance requirements, as well as initiatives focused on growth and new opportunities for MedImpact. The position is responsible for planning, directing, and leading the implementation and execution of initiatives while ensuring alignment to MedImpact’s strategic goals and objectives. This is a cross-functional leadership role responsible for working across business units to continuously improve services related to Trade Relations and pharmacy rebate management. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Leads initiatives to determine the potential impact of new state and federal regulatory requirements relative to MedImpact’s Trade business. 

  • Leads initiatives supporting rebate-related new product development opportunities and manages the development process.

  • Leads the planning and development of the project plan, including identifying deliverables, milestones, scheduling, and required tasks. Ensures that all responsibilities are clearly communicated, from requirements gathering to working with cross functional departments to execute on the project plan.Manages and directs key personnel for requirements, technical analysis, design, and documentation of solutions to meet business requirements and drive problem resolution.

  • Leads the implementation of any applicable regulatory requirements and growth opportunities to rebate operations and reporting.  Facilitates regular status meetings to assess progress versus milestones and identify areas of potential concern in adequate time in order to mitigate risk.  

  • Manages risks throughout each initiative by identifying, communicating, tracking, and mitigating.  Meets with personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems. Ensure all follow-up action items are owned and closed out by the relevant owners.

  • Maintains continuous process improvement practices by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and service standards; identifying and resolving problems; completing audits; determining system improvements; implementing change to enhance quality, accuracy, and efficiency of rebate activities.

Supervisory Responsibilities        

Manages assigned staff in the segment area. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Supports and enforces all company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner, taking corrective action whenever necessary.

Client Responsibilities

This is an internal and external client facing position that requires excellent customer service skills and interpersonal communication skills (listening/verbal/written). One must be able to; manage difficult or emotional client situations; Respond promptly to client needs; Solicit client feedback to improve service; Respond to requests for service and assistance from clients; Meet commitments to clients.

Education and/or Experience

BA/BS Degree; 8+ years related experience and 8+ years of SME in respective area(s); (or equivalent combination of education and experience).  Must have at least 4+ years leading individual contributors and leaders of leaders; which may be substituted with an appropriate mix of leadership experience and 5 years of MedImpact experience plus an appropriate external leadership training program and internal mentorship with a seasoned leader (VP+ level) that must completed within 12 months in new position.

Computer Skills

Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office Suite. 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

None required; PMP certification is highly desired

Work Location

This position works on-site at the San Diego Headquarters or other company location (or from a remote location with management approval based on business requirements). Must provide adequate support to internal clients; be available for regular interactions and coordination of work with other employees, colleagues, clients, or vendors; as well as be available to facilitate effective decisions through collaboration with stakeholders.

Working Hours

This is an exempt level position requiring the incumbent to work the hours required to fully accomplish job responsibilities and meet deadlines for work deliverables. The individual must have the flexibility to work beyond traditional hours and be able to work nights, weekends or on holidays as required. Work hours may be changed from time to time to meet the needs of the business. Typical core business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
