The Pre-Sales Consultant lays the commercial and technical groundwork for the Syspro sales process. The role engages with prospects and Sales Consultants to understand business challenges, designs solution positioning, delivers tailored demonstrations and proof-of-concept applications, and ensures that customer requirements are comprehensively documented and communicated before a client is acquired. The Pre-Sales Consultant plays a pivotal role in translating Syspro’s product capabilities into compelling, customer-relevant value propositions.

Requirements
Minimum Level of Education- Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent NQF Level 6 qualification.
Beneficial Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Information Systems, or a related discipline. Syspro product certification or formal ERP solution training. Formal training in solution selling or pre-sales methodology (e.g., SPIN Selling, Miller Heiman, Challenger Sale) advantageous.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the ERP industry with a demonstrated background in providing business solutions. Proven experience conducting product demonstrations and proof-of-concept engagements for complex software solutions. Ability to engage confidently with senior operational and C-suite stakeholders.
Beneficial Experience
- Experience with Syspro ERP specifically. Background in manufacturing, distribution, or supply chain environments aligned to Syspro’s target markets. Exposure to consultative or solution-based sales methodologies. Experience contributing to RFI/RFP processes and formal tender submissions.
- ERP and product knowledge: deep understanding of ERP business processes and solution capabilities, with the ability to position Syspro’s product suite effectively against complex customer requirements.
- Solution selling and pre-sales methodology: proficiency in consultative selling techniques, able to guide a prospect from need identification through to demonstrated solution fit and commercial commitment.
- Product demonstration and POC delivery: skilled in designing and delivering compelling, customer-specific Syspro demonstrations and proof-of-concept applications that convert interest into decisions.
- Business analysis: ability to objectively interpret and translate complex customer business challenges into clearly defined solution requirements and actionable pre-sales positioning.
- Presentation and facilitation: excellent presentation skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences — from operational users to C-suite stakeholders — communicating technical concepts in accessible business language.
- Proposal writing and RFP response: ability to contribute to well-structured, accurate, and persuasive proposals and tender responses, coordinating multiple contributors within tight deadlines.
- Industry and market knowledge: strong awareness of Syspro’s target industries (manufacturing and distribution) and the operational challenges that drive ERP adoption decisions.
- Stakeholder engagement: confident and credible communicator able to build trusted relationships with prospects, customers, and internal teams across all levels of seniority.
- Analytical and systems thinking: ability to analyse complex business environments, identify root-cause challenges, and design logically sound solution approaches that map to Syspro’s capabilities.
- Organisation and time management: ability to manage multiple concurrent pre-sales engagements and deadlines without compromising the quality or accuracy of customer-facing deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Engage with Sales Consultants and prospective customers to identify business objectives, operational challenges, and solution requirements, ensuring all necessary information is captured and documented before solution design begins.
- Analyse prospect needs and propose the most appropriate Syspro ERP solution, clearly articulating the value proposition and demonstrating how the solution addresses identified pain points.
- Design, configure, and deliver tailored product demonstrations and proof-of-concept applications that show prospects specifically how Syspro can meet their business requirements and improve their operations.
- Prepare and deliver compelling presentations in collaboration with the Sales team, contextualising the value of Syspro solutions for each customer’s industry and operational context.
- Build and maintain custom demonstration datasets and system environments aligned to Syspro’s target markets, ensuring demonstrations are accurate, relevant, and industry-specific at all times.
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of proposals and tender responses, coordinating input from Management, Professional Services, Sales, and global resources to produce accurate and persuasive submissions within agreed timeframes.
- Manage the structured handover of pre-sales intelligence to the Sales team upon client onboarding, ensuring all customer needs, pain points, solution fit details, and commitments made during the sales cycle are communicated completely.
- Provide the Product Manager and Professional Services team with pre-sales insights and knowledge to support the design and delivery of product education and sales enablement programmes.
- Respond to customer requests for information, RFI/RFP submissions, and proposal requests, providing insight on Syspro’s key capabilities, solution fit, and any functional risks or gaps relevant to the opportunity.
- Participate in dry runs and internal solution reviews, contributing feedback to continuously improve demonstration tools, methodologies, and the overall pre-sales process.
