And it's not just something we provide our customers. It's something that inspires our company. People don't come here to join a culture that's built on digital freedom. They come to cultivate it.
Our intelligent, cloud identity platform lets people shop, work, bank, and interact wherever and however they want. Without friction. Without fear.
While protecting digital identities is at the core of our technology, protecting individual identities is at the core of our culture. We champion every identity. One of our core values, Respect Individuality, reminds us to celebrate differences so you are empowered to bring your authentic self to work.
We're headquartered in Denver, Colorado and we have offices and employees around the globe. We serve the largest, most demanding enterprises worldwide, including more than half of the Fortune 100. At Ping Identity, we're changing the way people and businesses think about cybersecurity, digital experiences, and identity and access management.
Note: This is a hands-on technical leadership role with a Principal-level technical bar
About the role
Ping Identity’s Developer Platform team (internally known as DevTools) sits at the center of how our multitenant SaaS products are built, tested, promoted, and operated. We own critical parts of the engineering system that help product teams ship safely and quickly: CI/CD pipelines, developer workflows, self-service platform capabilities, and AI-enabled engineering tooling.
This is a high-bar role for a hands-on technical leader who can drive transformational change across our developer platform, lead engineers, shape technical direction, and directly improve how software gets built and delivered. The right candidate has already done something similar before in a modern SaaS environment and can point to real results in areas like CI/CD, developer workflows, release automation, or AI-enabled engineering systems.
What you’ll own
- Lead the Bangalore-based team and set technical direction for the developer platform, including CI/CD, release automation, self-service workflows, and AI-enabled engineering tooling.
- Own pipeline reliability as a product, including delivery health, time-to-feedback, release safety, and developer trust in platform signals.
- Stay actively hands-on in architecture, technical reviews, incident analysis, automation, and selective implementation work while driving transformational change in how engineers build, test, and ship software.
- Partner across engineering to remove bottlenecks across build, test, deployment, and promotion flows, and improve the paved-road experience for developers.
- Hire, coach, and grow a strong team while using data to prioritize investments and measure platform adoption, workflow quality, and engineering outcomes.
What success looks like
Success in this role is measured by what the broader engineering organization achieves because of your team:
- faster delivery with less manual overhead and fewer handoffs
- more reliable CI/CD systems that engineers trust
- greater developer autonomy through better self-service, safer promotion flows, and measurable AI adoption
What we’re looking for
Required
- At least 1 year of demonstrated success building AI-enabled engineering tools or workflows and driving real organizational adoption with measurable impact.
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, developer platform, DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering
- 2+ years of experience leading engineers, including direct people-management responsibility
- Experience with AI-assisted software engineering, agentic workflows, evaluation frameworks, or LLM-backed internal tooling
- Strong track record operating as a hands-on senior technical leader in a modern SaaS or cloud-native environment, with the depth to lead at a Principal-level technical bar
- Demonstrated success leading a similar developer platform, CI/CD, engineering productivity, or SDLC transformation in a modern SaaS environment, with measurable before-and-after results
- Recent hands-on technical credibility; you should be able to speak concretely about meaningful platform, automation, or developer-productivity work you have personally delivered
- Strong technical depth in CI/CD systems, build and release workflows, developer tooling, and internal platform capabilities
- Solid experience with Kubernetes, cloud-native platforms, and distributed systems in a modern multitenant SaaS environment
- Strong engineering judgment in reliability, observability, security, and operational excellence
- Ability to lead technical programs across team boundaries and drive alignment across engineering stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including regular collaboration across global teams and overlap with U.S. time zones
Preferred
- Experience treating internal developer platforms as products in a large engineering organization, including roadmap, adoption, workflow quality, and measurable developer impact
- Fluency with DORA, reliability, and developer-experience metrics, and judgment about how to use them to guide platform investments
- Experience working in security-sensitive or compliance-heavy SaaS environments while maintaining high delivery standards
Who thrives here
You’ll likely thrive here if you are deeply technical, AI-first, energized by making other engineers more effective, and comfortable switching between strategy, execution, and hard technical problem-solving. This role is ideal for a leader who wants to stay close to the work while driving transformational change in a modern developer platform.
Practical details
- 2–3 hours of overlap with U.S. Pacific time preferred
- Hybrid: 2–3 days per week in our Bangalore office
How we’ll interview
Our process includes a technical deep dive on CI/CD and platform design, a hands-on automation discussion, and a leadership conversation focused on real transformations you have led.
