We're looking for a passionate Senior Backend Engineer to join the platform team, help design and scale our system, infrastructure and dev tools.

Salary range- 3500-4000 Euros Monthly

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

• Take ownership of the entire software development lifecycle—from ideation and architecture through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing production support.
• Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to long-term technical strategy and platform evolution.
• Contribute to how we shift towards agentic software development lifecycle.
• Support Balance’s rapid business growth.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, Data teams, fellow engineers and other stakeholders.
• Mentor and support fellow engineers through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and collaborative problem-solving.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

• You’re curious about and actively experimenting with how AI changes Software Development Lifecycle.
• 7+ years of experience building production-grade backend applications.
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and service-oriented architectures.
• Significant practical experience building distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with large-scale production databases, including PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling, indexing, query optimization, and database performance tuning.
• Experience working with AWS cloud services.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and/or serverless architectures.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, clean code principles, and design patterns.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Frontend experience with React or similar frameworks is an advantage.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is an advantage.
