The Commerce organization is part of WBD’s Global Tech division and powers critical business capabilities across subscriptions, customer engagement, retention, marketing automation, data analytics, and CRM platforms. Our teams build and operate scalable solutions that support global marketing operations and customer experiences across multiple regions.As part of the Messaging - Engagement & Automations Engineering team, you will work closely with engineers, product managers, designers, and stakeholders across the US, Europe, and India to build interactive web applications, internal platforms, and backend services that support marketing and customer engagement initiatives at scale.Our team owns the complete software development lifecycle—from architecture and design to implementation, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.Role & Responsibilities:
- Build, optimize, and maintain secure, scalable backend applications using Node.js and TypeScript.
- Design and develop backend services, APIs, and microservices.
- Demonstrate strong understanding of asynchronous programming, event loops, and event-driven architectures.
- Structure, optimize, and scale MongoDB databases, including indexing and data modeling.
- Work with AWS cloud services and serverless architecture patterns.
- Architect and deploy serverless functions alongside traditional backend applications.
- Build reliable, highly available, and cost-efficient solutions.
- Maintain and enhance automated CI/CD pipelines for seamless deployments.
- Work with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevOps best practices.
- Participate in monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability initiatives.
- Implement and maintain unit and integration testing frameworks.
- Collaborate with frontend teams and contribute to React-based applications when required.
- Produce clear technical documentation and design artifacts.
- Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and engineering excellence initiatives.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of software development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Experience building scalable REST APIs and backend services.
- Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, event loops, and microservices architecture.
- 1+ years of experience working with databases such as MongoDB or DynamoDB.
- Experience with MongoDB schema design, indexing, query optimization, and aggregation.
- 2+ years of experience working with AWS and cloud engineering principles.
- Experience with serverless and traditional cloud architectures.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and automated quality practices.
- Working knowledge of React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Understanding of monitoring, logging, and production support processes.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
Nice to Have… - Experience writing Python or PySpark scripts.
- Experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines in AWS.
- Exposure to data lake, analytics, or large-scale data processing solutions.
- Experience with event-driven technologies such as Kafka, SNS/SQS, or EventBridge.
- Knowledge of Docker, containerization, and observability platforms.
