Akima Systems Engineering ASE, an Akima company is looking to hire on Interior Communications installation on site quality control specialist to join our team in Suffolk, VA. Qualified candidate will assist in oversight of quality installations of US Navy Interior Communications telephony and announcing systems. Qualified candidate will liaison between ASE, Govt customer and Newport News Shipbuilding on condition of systems, assist in trouble shooting and prepare reports on operational status of systems. Qualified person must be an independent employee who enjoys the challenge of helping assist on day-to-day installation quality control and technical issues with electrical/electronic communication systems. This Hybrid position requires that you live within commuting distance from Suffolk, Virginia.
Responsibilities
- Support GOV OSIC in serving as liaison between Navy stakeholders, shipyard leadership, and Alteration Installation Teams (AIT).
- Support GOV OSIC in overseeing AIT technicians in shipboard electrical and communications system installations.
- Support GOV OSIC in developing and maintaining POAMs, Progress to Plan (P2P) metrics, and SFIMS schedule inputs.
- Support GOV OSIC in ensuring compliance with NAVSEA standards, drawings, and shipboard safety protocols.
- Support GOV OSIC in conducting inspections, witnessing system tests, and providing certification support for shipboard systems.
- Support GOV OSIC in delivering technical reports, risk assessments, and project updates to senior leadership.
- Support GOV OSIC in resolving scheduling conflicts, manpower shortfalls, and material delays to maintain timelines.
- Monitors the quality of installations.
- Performs inspections to meet the standard set by the Interior Communications Program.
- Recommend corrective actions in order to ensure products meet required specifications.
- Initiates improvements related to quality findings.
- Examines reports and trends to identify areas of opportunity.
- Performs work under general supervision.
- Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
Qualifications
- Able to obtain Secret Clearance.
- 4 years of military electrical/electronic experience and/or apprenticeship electrical graduate of a Naval Shipyard.
- Ability to use Microsoft Suite
- Ability to use test equipment for use in trouble shooting
- Ability to read and interpret block, elementary and isometric wiring diagrams.
- Ability to climb shipboard ladders and lift up to 50LBs
- Ability to prepare reports using MS Suite.
