The Vice President, Business Operations & Change Management is responsible for designing and evolving the operating model required to support Paze's growth from an emerging payments network into a scaled ecosystem serving thousands of merchants, financial institutions, processors, networks, resellers, and strategic partners. 

Overall Purpose 

The Vice President, Business Operations & Change Management is responsible for designing and evolving the operating model required to support Paze's growth from an emerging payments network into a scaled ecosystem serving thousands of merchants, financial institutions, processors, networks, resellers, and strategic partners. 

This role serves as the strategic architect of operational scale, organizational readiness, and business transformation. Rather than leading the day-to-day execution of onboarding, enablement, or partner servicing, the VP focuses on identifying and implementing the capabilities, governance structures, operating processes, organizational changes, and investments necessary to enable sustainable growth and ecosystem expansion. 


Working across Product, Commercial, Marketing, Technology, Risk, Legal, Operations, and Partner teams, this leader ensures Paze can successfully launch new products, distribution channels, partnership models, and growth initiatives while maintaining operational excellence and partner satisfaction. The VP is responsible for assessing future-state business needs, identifying gaps in current capabilities, and leading the cross-functional changes required to achieve Paze's strategic objectives of issuer adoption, merchant acceptance, and consumer usage at scale. 

Essential Functions

Business Operations Strategy & Scale 

  • Define and evolve the operating model required to support Paze's long-term growth strategy and ecosystem expansion.  

  • Assess the people, process, technology, governance, and organizational capabilities needed to scale from a limited number of partners to a large, multi-party ecosystem.  

  • Identify operational constraints and develop strategies to remove barriers to growth, adoption, and scalability.  

  • Develop multi-year roadmaps that align operational capabilities with business objectives and growth targets.  

  • Establish success metrics and executive reporting that measure organizational readiness, operational effectiveness, ecosystem health, and business outcomes.  

Change Management & Business Transformation 

  • Lead enterprise-wide change management initiatives associated with new products, capabilities, partnerships, operating models, and strategic priorities.  

  • Establish repeatable frameworks for organizational readiness, stakeholder engagement, communications, training, and adoption management.  

  • Drive cross-functional alignment to ensure operational processes, governance structures, technology capabilities, and organizational models evolve in support of business growth.  

  • Partner with Product, Technology, Commercial, Marketing, Risk, and Operations leaders to successfully operationalize and scale new initiatives.  

  • Measure adoption and effectiveness of business changes and implement continuous improvement strategies.  

Ecosystem Governance & Partner Operating Models 

  • Define roles, responsibilities, and accountability frameworks across Paze, financial institutions, merchants, processors, networks, resellers, and other ecosystem participants.  

  • Evaluate whether existing partner models possess the capabilities, tools, incentives, and operational maturity necessary to achieve desired business outcomes.  

  • Develop governance frameworks, performance management structures, operational standards, and escalation models that support growth while protecting program integrity.  

  • Assess contractual, operational, and business requirements needed to support emerging partnership and distribution models.  

  • Identify capability gaps and recommend investments, resources, and organizational changes required to support future-state business needs.  

Strategic Planning & Operational Readiness 

  • Partner with executive leadership to assess growth opportunities and determine operational implications and readiness requirements.  

  • Lead cross-functional business readiness efforts associated with major launches, strategic initiatives, and ecosystem expansion.  

  • Develop short-, medium-, and long-term investment recommendations to support operational scale and business transformation.  

  • Ensure the company maintains a scalable foundation capable of supporting future growth without compromising customer experience, partner satisfaction, or operational performance.  

  • Support the company's commitment to risk management and the protection of confidential information, systems, and data.  

Leadership 

  • Build and lead a high-performing team focused on business operations strategy, organizational effectiveness, and enterprise change management.  

  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.  

  • Influence executive stakeholders and drive alignment across complex, cross-functional initiatives.  

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on operational scale, ecosystem readiness, organizational effectiveness, and transformation priorities.  

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations, Finance, Technology, Organizational Leadership, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  

  • Typically, 15+ years of progressive experience in business operations, strategy, transformation, change management, consulting, payments, financial services, fintech, or related industries.  

  • 10+ years of leadership experience driving large-scale cross-functional initiatives and organizational transformation.  

  • Demonstrated success designing and implementing operating models that support significant business growth and scale.  

  • Proven experience leading enterprise-wide change management and organizational readiness programs.  

  • Strong strategic planning, problem-solving, and analytical capabilities.  

  • Experience evaluating complex business challenges and translating strategy into executable operational plans.  

  • Exceptional written, verbal, and executive communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels of an organization.  

  • Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity and manage multiple strategic priorities in a fast-paced environment.  

  • Proven success building and developing high-performing teams.  

  • Background and drug screen required.  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Deep understanding of the digital payments, ecommerce, financial services, or fintech ecosystem.  

  • Experience scaling a business, platform, network, or marketplace from early-stage growth to broad market adoption.  

  • Experience working with merchants, issuers, networks, processors, PSPs, gateways, digital wallets, or related ecosystem participants.  

  • Experience designing operating models for multi-party ecosystems involving strategic partners, resellers, or channel distribution models.  

  • Background in management consulting, business transformation, strategy, or operational excellence functions.  

  • Experience leading organizational change within high-growth or rapidly evolving businesses.  

  • Demonstrated success influencing executive-level decision-making and enterprise prioritization.  

  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred. 

  • Experience working for a Merchant Services Provider, Acquirer, PSP, or Gateway.  

  • Experience developing servicing strategies in a fast-paced environment.  

  • Demonstrated leadership and initiative regarding operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.  

Physical Requirements

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers. Employee must be able to perform essential functions and physical requirements of position with or without reasonable accommodation.

New York, NY/ San Francisco, CA in USD per year is: $248,000 - $330,000.


Additionally, candidates are eligible for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.
