JOB TITLE:  

WyoWire Studio Producer/News Director

JOB PURPOSE:   

The WyoWire Studio Producer / News Editor leads the production and coordination of student broadcast, multimedia, and news operations by managing studio production, editorial workflows, and cross-platform collaboration. This position oversees the creation and distribution of high-quality audio, video, livestream, and digital news content while coordinating assignments, production schedules, and newsroom operations. The Studio Producer / News Editor mentors student staff, ensures adherence to journalistic, technical, and production standards, and supports an integrated student media environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Oversees studio and broadcast production operations for WyoWire. 
2. Manages editing, post-production, publishing, and multimedia production and distribution. 
3. Tracks assignments, deadlines, production progress, and newsroom workflow. 
4. Coordinates on-air talent, producers, videographers, and technical crew during productions.
5. Oversees quality control for broadcast, multimedia, and editorial content. 
6. Supports continuous improvement of newsroom processes, production efficiency, and audience engagement. 
7.  Attend weekly meetings with the Supervisor and Student Staff.
8. The producer is required to work in the office no less than 20 hours each week. The times must be posted and followed.  At least 10 of the 20 hours must be between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.   
9. Serve as a direct line to adviser, sales manager, production coordinator, and business manager when the director is unavailable. 
10. Other duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

1. Must be a currently enrolled University of Wyoming student with a minimum 2.5 GPA. 
2. Working knowledge of video editing, audio production, photography, or multimedia software. 
3. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
4. Knowledge of or willingness to learn AP Style, journalistic ethics, copyright requirements, and Student Media policies. 
5. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and special events as production schedules require. 
6. Must be available to start work Aug. 24, 2026.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:   

1. Experience creating audio, video, photography, written, or multimedia content through coursework, student organizations, internships, or personal projects. 
2. Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, Audition, Photoshop, After Effects), DaVinci Resolve, or comparable multimedia production software. 
3. Experience with livestream production, podcasting, studio operations, or broadcast equipment. 
4. Experience coordinating projects, leading student teams, or mentoring peers. 
5. Familiarity with social media publishing, digital storytelling, and multimedia content creation.

On-campus: This position provides vital support to campus customers, and the successful candidate must be available to work and perform essential job functions on campus, understanding our location is at 7,220 feet above sea level.
