CBIZ is seeking a Tax Manager to join our Indianapolis office. In this leadership role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing strategic tax guidance while leading engagement teams and building strong client relationships. Essential Functions and Primary Duties

  • Lead impactful client engagements that blend technical expertise, strategic planning, and relationship management.

  • Partner directly with entrepreneurial companies across a variety of industries, influencing key business decisions and long-term tax strategies

  • Review complex federal, state, and local tax returns while maintaining a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and technical excellence.

  • Research and analyze intricate tax issues, developing practical recommendations and communicating findings clearly to clients and internal stakeholders.

  • Build and strengthen client relationships through regular communication, strategic guidance, and a commitment to delivering value beyond compliance.

  • Identify tax-saving opportunities, risk areas, and process improvements that help clients maximize efficiency and minimize exposure.

  • Collaborate with professionals across tax, audit, advisory, and consulting teams to deliver comprehensive solutions for clients.

  • Mentor, coach, and develop tax professionals by providing technical guidance, performance feedback, and career development support.

  • Participate in business development initiatives, including networking, proposal development, and identifying opportunities to expand client relationships.

  • Stay current on evolving tax legislation, regulatory developments, and industry trends, translating changes into actionable insights for clients and teams.

  • Manage engagement budgets, timelines, and staffing to ensure efficient execution and profitability.

  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative culture that promotes innovation, continuous learning, and professional growth.

  • Support Indianapolis market growth initiatives by developing relationships within the local business community and serving as an ambassador for the firm.

  • Leverage technology and process improvements to enhance the client experience and drive operational excellence.

  • Play a key role in shaping the future of the practice through leadership, strategic thinking, and a passion for delivering outstanding results.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Taxation or related field 

 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 5 years of experience in public accounting or related field
  • 3 years supervisory experience
  • Must have active CPA or equivalent certification
  • Ability to manage all aspects of client engagements
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
  • Must be able to travel based on client and business needs
  • Proficient use of applicable technology
