CBIZ is seeking a Tax Manager to join our Indianapolis office. In this leadership role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing strategic tax guidance while leading engagement teams and building strong client relationships. Essential Functions and Primary Duties
Lead impactful client engagements that blend technical expertise, strategic planning, and relationship management.
Partner directly with entrepreneurial companies across a variety of industries, influencing key business decisions and long-term tax strategies
Review complex federal, state, and local tax returns while maintaining a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and technical excellence.
Research and analyze intricate tax issues, developing practical recommendations and communicating findings clearly to clients and internal stakeholders.
Build and strengthen client relationships through regular communication, strategic guidance, and a commitment to delivering value beyond compliance.
Identify tax-saving opportunities, risk areas, and process improvements that help clients maximize efficiency and minimize exposure.
Collaborate with professionals across tax, audit, advisory, and consulting teams to deliver comprehensive solutions for clients.
Mentor, coach, and develop tax professionals by providing technical guidance, performance feedback, and career development support.
Participate in business development initiatives, including networking, proposal development, and identifying opportunities to expand client relationships.
Stay current on evolving tax legislation, regulatory developments, and industry trends, translating changes into actionable insights for clients and teams.
Manage engagement budgets, timelines, and staffing to ensure efficient execution and profitability.
Contribute to a positive, collaborative culture that promotes innovation, continuous learning, and professional growth.
Support Indianapolis market growth initiatives by developing relationships within the local business community and serving as an ambassador for the firm.
Leverage technology and process improvements to enhance the client experience and drive operational excellence.
Play a key role in shaping the future of the practice through leadership, strategic thinking, and a passion for delivering outstanding results.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Taxation or related field
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5 years of experience in public accounting or related field
- 3 years supervisory experience
- Must have active CPA or equivalent certification
- Ability to manage all aspects of client engagements
- Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
- Must be able to travel based on client and business needs
- Proficient use of applicable technology
