Your role and responsibilities
As a Product Owner, you will set priorities for the squad and groom the Product Backlog to ensure the most valuable and time-critical items are at the top. You will interact with the Iteration Manager/Scrum Master, Development Team, and Client to understand the product and translate it into priorities for the squad.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
• Prioritize Product Backlog: Place the most valuable and time-critical items at the top of the backlog to ensure the squad is working on the most important tasks.
• Collaborate with Stakeholders: Interact with the Iteration Manager/Scrum Master, Development Team, and Client to understand their needs and expectations.
• Translate Client Needs: Understand the product and client requirements and translate them into priorities for the squad to ensure effective solution delivery.
• Manage Product Backlog: Continuously groom the Product Backlog to ensure it is up-to-date and reflects the changing needs of the client and stakeholders.
• Communicate Priorities: Clearly communicate priorities to the squad and stakeholders to ensure everyone is aligned and working towards the same goals.
Required technical and professional expertise
The Agile Technical Product Owner (Advisor) is accountable for maximizing business value and technical health across one or more technology products within an Agile Release Train (ART). Serving as the internal voice of the customer, this role bridges business strategy and agile delivery by translating enterprise and portfolio objectives into prioritized features and stories. The Advisor partners closely with business stakeholders, Product Managers, architects, and engineering teams to ensure secure, compliant, and sustainable delivery of high quality outcomes aligned to the enterprise roadmap.
This role requires strong technical acumen, agile delivery expertise, and the ability to operate effectively across complex, cross functional, and enterprise scale environments while providing guidance and thought leadership on complex initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership & Value Delivery
• Own the product vision, roadmap, and backlog for assigned technical products or Agile Release Train scope
• Define, prioritize, and manage features and stories to ensure delivery of the highest business value
• Translate strategic objectives and business needs into well defined features, user stories, and acceptance criteria
• Ensure iterative delivery of value through Minimum Viable Products, epics, features and planned increments (stories)
Agile Planning & Execution
• Own and maintain healthy feature and story backlogs, ensuring Definition of Ready and Definition of Done are met
• Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, PI planning, reviews, and retrospectives
• Partner with Delivery Managers and agile teams to ensure work is planned, executed, and completed on schedule
• Identify, manage, and escalate risks and cross team dependencies as needed
• Leverage agile tools (e.g., Jira) and metrics to manage flow, throughput, and backlog health
Stakeholder & Cross Functional Collaboration
• Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and delivery teams
• Communicate product direction, trade offs, progress, and risks clearly and effectively
• Maintain awareness of portfolio level initiatives to proactively manage alignment and dependencies
• Provide advisory guidance and recommendations to leadership on complex or high impact initiatives
Technical & Product Health Ownership
• Partner with engineering and architecture to incorporate technical improvements, platform needs, and architectural guidance into the backlog
• Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, compliance, and technology standards
• Monitor product health indicators such as KPIs, defects, and compliance metrics to support long term sustainability
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience: 7-9 Years
• 3-5 years of experience working in Agile / Scrum or SAFe delivery environments
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, APIs, data platforms, or enterprise systems
• Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into business friendly language
• Strong knowledge of JIRA
• Strong prioritization, analytical, and decision making skills
Preferred technical and professional experience
• Experience as a Technical Product Owner, Product Owner, or similar role in a large enterprise
• Experience supporting Agile Release Trains and managing cross team dependencies
• Familiarity with regulated domains, data & analytics platforms, or healthcare technology
• Comfort using agile and product health metrics to guide prioritization and delivery decisions
