As a Software Engineer within PNC's Lending Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh PA, Dallas TX, Strongsville OH, Birmingham AL, Phoenix AZ, or Denver CO.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Microsoft technologies, modern web development frameworks, API development, and SQL Server-based applications. This role offers the opportunity to work on strategic initiatives supporting digital transformation and innovation across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise-level web applications and APIs.
  • Build scalable and secure applications using C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, Angular, and Entity Framework Core.
  • Develop and optimize RESTful APIs and backend services to support business applications.
  • Create, maintain, and tune SQL Server databases, including complex T-SQL queries and stored procedures.
  • Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, architects, and QA teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, retrospectives, and reviews.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement effective solutions to improve application performance and stability.
  • Perform code reviews and contribute to development standards and best practices.
  • Support application modernization initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Document technical designs, development activities, and operational procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of software development experience in enterprise environments.
  • Strong experience with:
    • C# and .NET
    • ASP.NET Core
    • Entity Framework Core
    • Angular
    • SQL Server
    • REST API Development
    • T-SQL and Stored Procedures
  • Experience developing scalable, secure, and high-performing applications.
  • Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-have Qualifications

  • Experience working with distributed teams across onshore and offshore development models.
  • Proven success working in a high-performing Agile environment utilizing Scrum or related methodologies.
  • Exposure to or practical experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and technologies, including:
    • Microsoft Copilot
    • ChatGPT
    • Claude
    • AI-assisted software development tools
    • Prompt engineering concepts
  • Experience integrating AI capabilities into business or development workflows.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud-based environments.
  • Financial services or banking industry experience is a plus.

Pay Transparency

Base Salary: $75,000.00 – $137,500.00

Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with the payment based upon company, business and/or individual performance.
