SHIFT:  8 Hour Shifts - Exempt 5 days/weeek

 POSITION SUMMARY

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the day-to-day management of patients in the outpatient setting. The Provider manages the behavioral health of patients by providing evaluation and management of acute and chronic illnesses/conditions. The Provider is responsible for the coordination of care with specialists and appropriate ancillary services and shall work collaboratively with all members of the health care team. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Provide care to patients through ongoing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Enhance the quality of patient management and satisfaction through support and collaboration with various internal and external programs/organizations.   
  • All other duties or responsibilities as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS


Minimum Education (or substitute experience) Required:

  • Current California Nurse Practitioner License
  • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Board Certified)
  • DEA Furnishing License
  • BLS within 3 months of hire

 

Education Preferred:

  • ACLS Preferred
  • PALS Preferred

 

Minimum Experience Required:

  • Must be credentialed through Medical Staff for privileges to see patients within their scope of practice.

 

Experience Preferred:

  • One-year experience working in an outpatient clinic preferred.
  • Knowledge of EMR system or ability to learn and use the district Electronic Medical Record system

 

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to use communication skills to enhance learning through motivation, associations and repetition. 
  • Strong organization skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality. 
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office. 
  • Must have the ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other members of the health care team. 
  • Must be able to withstand stressful situations.
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Bilingual preferred
