£48,991 + 12.5% shift allowance

Your new role:
Hitachi Rail is seeking a dedicated Lead Technician to join our Train care Centre in Oxley, Midlands.
In this exciting role, you will play a key part in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of Hitachi's rolling stock fleet of 805/7. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out complex fault diagnosis, maintenance, MOD programmes and repairs on rolling stock assets, ensuring they are maintained to the highest operational and safety standards.
Working within a skilled team environment, you will provide technical expertise, support reliability improvements, and contribute to the delivery of a safe and dependable railway Avanti West Coast service.
As a Lead Technician at Hitachi Rail's Oxley Train care Centre, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of rolling stock through advanced maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair, and technical support activities.
Work-life balance supported through a shift pattern that includes two weekends off per month.
Maintenance & Engineering
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on rolling stock assets.
- Remove, replace, assemble, modify, and install components using approved engineering techniques.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and maintenance documentation.
- Ensure rolling stock complies with operational and engineering requirements.
Fault Finding & Reliability
- Diagnose and rectify complex electrical and mechanical faults.
- Investigate recurring defects and implement effective corrective actions.
- Support reliability improvement initiatives to enhance fleet performance.
- Provide technical assistance during in-service failures and operational incidents.
Technical Leadership
- Develop technical scopes of work with the aid of engineering for fault rectification activities.
- Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient working environment.
- Comply with all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Ensure tools, equipment, and materials are maintained and used correctly.
Administration & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain accurate maintenance records within SAP.
- Build effective working relationships across teams.
- Develop new skills and technical knowledge in line with business requirements.
- Undertake additional duties as required to support local operational needs.

About you:
Qualifications
- HNC or Served apprenticeship with mechanical, electrical disciplines or Engineering based NVQ Level 3.
