About Avalyn:

Avalyn aims to transform the treatment paradigm for pulmonary fibrosis and other serious, rare respiratory diseases. The company is advancing optimized inhaled formulations of established antifibrotic medicines designed to deliver drug directly to the lungs, enhance local efficacy, and reduce systemic side effects. Avalyn’s AP01 program is an optimized inhaled formulation of pirfenidone currently being evaluated in MIST, a global Phase 2b clinical trial in patients with progressive pulmonary fibrosis (PPF). AP01 has demonstrated encouraging safety and clinical activity across Phase 1b and an ongoing, multi-year open-label extension trial, with long-term data supporting the potential to preserve lung function while improving tolerability relative to historical oral pirfenidone. Avalyn’s AP02 program is an optimized inhaled formulation of nintedanib currently being evaluated in AURA, a global Phase 2 clinical trial in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Avalyn is also advancing AP03, an inhaled fixed-dose combination of pirfenidone and nintedanib, designed to deliver multiple antifibrotic mechanisms through a single lung-targeted platform. By leveraging its proprietary drug-device approach and deep expertise in rare respiratory disease development, Avalyn aims to establish a new standard of care in pulmonary fibrosis through inhaled, lung-targeted therapies. • Partner with business leaders to identify meaningful project work and deliver a strong intern experience
  • Use this initiative as an opportunity to build program management and leadership capability

Compliance & Audit — Build a Strong HR Foundation

  • Own compliance tracking across federal, state, and multi-state employment law requirements
  • Lead leave of absence administration, including FMLA and MA PFML
  • Manage I-9 processing, background checks, and employment verifications
  • Take the lead on internal and external audits, including payroll, benefits, and worker classification, as a means of developing deep HR expertise
  • Maintain audit-ready records and partner with HR leadership on policy interpretation

HR Operations & Systems — Shape How We Work

  • Play a leading role in core lifecycle processes, including onboarding, offboarding, transfers, and employee data integrity
  • Support HRIS and systems administration, ensuring data accuracy across Greenhouse, ADP Workforce Now, Absorb, and related platforms
  • Identify process inefficiencies and implement scalable solutions, including checklists, templates, and documentation
  • Partner with payroll to ensure accurate, timely processing

Qualifications:

Required

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with 5–8+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including exposure to talent acquisition, HR operations, or a combination of both
  • Demonstrated curiosity and a desire to build expertise across multiple Human Resources disciplines
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment with shifting priorities and expanding scope
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with a collaborative, team-oriented approach
  • Experience with an ATS (e.g., Greenhouse) and/or HRIS platform (e.g., ADP Workforce Now) preferred but not required; training will be provided

Preferred

  • Experience in biotech, life sciences, or another high-growth industry
  • Exposure to compliance, leave administration, audit support, or other core HR operational functions
  • A demonstrated track record of building a program, process, or workflow from the ground up
Proposed pay range$130,000$178,000 USD
