What is the opportunity?

The mission of the Client Information Applications (CIA) team is to transform and support client data capabilities that power core processes and key insights for Personal Banking & Commercial Banking.

The role of Senior Product Manager, CDM (Client Data Master) will contribute by aligning data and technology capabilities with organizational strategy and driving cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that create value and achieve clear business outcomes. The role will work alongside the Director, CIA and senior leadership to deliver key milestones in the enterprise client master data management solution roadmap. The successful candidate will act as a central integrator for agile delivery squads, establishing strong relationships with key stakeholders. The candidate will synthesize inputs across businesses, T&O, and risk partners to frame options, drive clarity, and create momentum towards the overall vision and backlog of the Client Information Applications team

This role works in the office 3 to 4 days a week.

What will you do?

Central integrator for the delivery squad:

  • Communicate the Client Information Applications (CIA) mission and roadmap

  • Contribute to the ongoing prioritization and refinement of the development lab’s backlog

  • Support the management of the CIA financials and connect investments with business outcomes

  • Participate and lead agile ceremonies to ensure the delivery squad remains focused on the CIA roadmap

  • Act as both the “voice of the customer” and the client data subject matter expert during internal discussions

  • Establish clear business requirements to communicate stakeholder needs to the lab

  • Present wins, progress, risks, and dependencies to leadership

Foster strong relationship management practices with key stakeholders:

  • Build relationships with existing and emerging stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose client data solutions

  • Provide advisory services on application capabilities and data availability for projects initiated outside of CIA

  • Manage expectations by setting clear priorities, communicating timelines and trade-offs, and articulating outcomes to partners

  • Develop solutions in partnership with stakeholders, architects, developers, and QA engineers

Support the safety and soundness of client information:

  • Identify existing and emerging control gaps that expose the organization to data risks and escalate with recommended mitigants

  • Define, prioritize, and implement controls within the application that ensure technological, operational, and regulatory resilience

  • Partner with the Data Management Office, Chief Data Office, and Data Privacy teams to adopt data management standards of care including metadata management, data lineage capture, risk assessment, data quality monitoring, and control development

  • Ensure continuous monitoring and improvements to the application’s control framework to sustain safety and soundness over time

  • Ensure appropriate processes are in place to identify, track and resolve incidents pertaining to the application

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have – at least 7 years proven work experience:

  • Strong understanding of master data management and analytics best practices with experience in executing and implementing enterprise-wide initiatives

  • Exceptional leadership, relationship and stakeholder management skills with the ability to impact and influence to drive outcomes

  • Able to contribute to a compelling vision and advocate for that vision and for the needs/wants of the client with multiple partners

  • Experience as a Product Manager within the agile methodology framework including setting product vision, building and maintaining backlogs, constructing release plans, and defining product performance metrics

  • Proven ability to apply critical thinking and structured problem-solving skills, consistently converting loosely defined problems into well-scoped initiatives, measurable outcomes, and executable roadmaps

  • Strong business acumen to support effective prioritization and communication

  • Understanding of the product lifecycle and application dispositions, from go-to-market research to sunsetting legacy technology

  • Knowledge of API product management, including RESTful services, SOAP services, versioning, and developer experience

  • Strong knowledge of event-driven architecture and event streaming technology, including Kafka, to support real-time business processes

Nice To Have:

  • An understanding of the regulatory landscape as it pertains to Client data is an asset, understanding of Client data privacy rules is an asset

  • Technical understanding of DB2 database, z/OS operating system, web services and data warehouses is an asset.

  • Foundational knowledge of client data, client processes, data domains and RBC’s businesses

  • Comfortable with ambiguity, adept at navigating change, and have the ability to prioritize and multitask under pressure

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to evaluate and articulate complex information

  • Strong problem solving, strategic mindset with a strong understanding of our revenue-generating businesses and financial literacy
