Pharmacy Supply Chain Specialist; Mount Sinai Health System; Full Time; Days

The Pharmacy Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for the procurement, supply management and inventory optimization of pharmaceuticals supporting one or more Mount Sinai Health System entities. This individual will liaise with drug suppliers, internal stakeholders, and peers to ensure drug availability for patient care at optimal cost. 

1.    Procurement & Contract Compliance
a.    Purchases drugs, vaccines, imaging agents and related items for acute care sites, infusion centers, and/or clinics & departments within their purview.
b.    Maintains a relationship with vendors to ensure the procurement of high-quality products, expedient delivery and reliable service at optimum prices.
c.    Demonstrates compliance with clean and mixed-use area purchasing, adhering to 340B regulations, GPO/ contractual and WAC requirements. 
d.    Understands and adheres to any specific considerations associated with the procurement of Vaccines, Contrasts, Controlled Substances, 503B Compounding Pharmacies, Drop-ship Orders, Non-formulary and Restricted meds, REMS program, Medication Trays, Repackaged, Hub-spoke, and Short Dated meds, and secondary sources.
e.    Collaborate with PO Requestors, Invoice Approvers and Accounts Payable to ensure vendor payments occur as per contractual terms, avoids credit hold due to late or non-payment.

2.    Inventory Management & Optimization 
a.    Utilizes a disciplined approach to drug replenishment planning with PAR levels that account for the value, critical-to-care, and variability associated with the medication. Periodically reviews and adjusts PAR levels as necessary. 
b.    For drugs on market shortage, assesses specific site impact and drives supply risk mitigation in line with system’s Drug Availability process & governance.
c.    Ensures accurate usage of EPIC Willow Inventory (WINV) for purchasing and receiving medications. Identifies, investigates and escalates issues impacting inventory accuracy or data integrity to the WINV Governance Forum. 
d.    For medications that are repackaged or batched / compounded in-house, develop production/replenishment plans in coordination with Pharmacy Operations. 
e.    For drugs recalled from the market, performs a timely assessment of any stock on hand and dispositions any such stock per wholesaler or manufacturer instructions.
f.    Ensures returns to vendor and reverse distributor and performed in a timely and compliant manner.

3.    Supply Management & Readiness
a.    Follows the Drug Supply Readiness (RxSR) process to assure timely availability of new drugs, manages the phase out for drugs discontinued or removed from Formulary. 
b.    Manages the system set-ups and change process when suppliers/accounts are either added or removed from our vendor base.
c.    Performs supply and inventory planning for holidays, seasonality, start-up/ramp down sites, and unanticipated events

4.    General Responsibilities
a.    Actively participates in relevant Pharmacy meetings & forums, takes responsibility for follow-up on all agenda items and initiatives generated through these avenues
b.    Periodically reviews purchase and inventory reports and dashboards, analyzes data and identifies and advances opportunities to optimize drug spend & inventory. 
c.    Partner with Pharmacy Operations to improve drug inventory accuracy, monitor PYXIS and CII Safe PAR levels vs usage, seeks opportunities to optimize ADS storage/dispensation and helps implement these changes 
d.    Partners with 340B team to assess and confirm drug / NDC mapping are aligned and driving accurate accumulations, escalate issues as they arise. 
e.    Coordinate and ensure completion of all medication transfers, both within the health system and externally with appropriate electronic documentation
f.    Understand and adheres to Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) regulations. 

• Bachelor’s or entry-level business degree (accounting, operations, information systems, supply chain management) is highly preferred. 
• 2 years minimum of pharmacy purchasing and/or supervisory experience (hospital setting preferred) but experience in similar or equivalent (preferably regulated environment) settings may qualify 
• Analysis and interpretation of purchasing and inventory data and metrics to drive performance improvement. 
• Entry level or advanced pharmacy degree/certification preferred but not required

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $66,482.07 - $98,827.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
