The FAAS Director leads client service engagements involving complex accounting, financial reporting, SEC reporting, transaction support, and accounting transformation initiatives. The Director serves as a trusted advisor to CFOs, Chief Accounting Officers, Controllers, Audit Committees, and venture capital and private equity-backed companies while managing client relationships, developing staff, and contributing to practice growth.

 

 

Essential Functions and Primary Duties

  • Supervises and performs day-to-day activities in support of consulting and technical accounting advisory projects including interaction with client personnel, other team members.

  • Advise clients on complex U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting matters. 

  • Prepare and review technical accounting memoranda. 

  • Assist with implementation of new accounting standards. 

  • Advise on revenue recognition, leases, stock compensation, debt/equity transactions, business combinations, impairment, consolidation matters and other technical GAAP areas.

  • Support mergers and acquisitions, purchase accounting, and divestitures. 

  • Assist clients with IPO readiness and public company reporting. 

  • Review registration statements, Forms 10-K, 10-Q, S-1, and related disclosures.

  • Lead multiple engagement teams and oversee project execution. 

  • Maintain executive-level client relationships. 

  • Identify opportunities to expand services and enhance client value.

  • Participate in proposal development and business development activities. 

  • Build referral relationships with private equity firms, attorneys, bankers, and audit partners. 

  • Assist in developing new service offerings and thought leadership.

  • Mentor all levels of team personnel such as Senior Managers, Managers and Consultants. 

  • Participate in recruiting, performance management, and career development initiatives. 

  • Promote technical excellence and quality control.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • 10+ years of experience in related field

  • 10+ years supervisory experience

  • Graduate or specialty degree preferred

  • Strong technical accounting, finance, and SEC disclosure skills

  • Ability to manage multiple workflows simultaneously while managing time and budget

  • Prior experience managing teams and the development of others

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 8 years of experience in related field
  • 6 years supervisory experience
  • Must have and preserve required licenses
  • Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments and prioritize each assignment as necessary
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally 
  • Proficient use of applicable technology
  • Must be able to travel based on client and business needs
