A Brief Overview

Responsible for providing leadership, mentorship, clinical expertise, and functional direction to other members of the health care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes in the specific surgical specialty. Coordinates a level of communication between OR and clinic for nursing staff, physicians and other departments. Assisting manager with developing clinic procedure protocols and assisting with education and competencies as needed.

What you will do

  • Facilitates processes and monitors the daily activities of specialty service and team assignments. Reviews scheduled and specialty cases.
  • Reviews schedule and assigns team members in appropriate areas. Maintains clinical competence by scrubbing specialty cases on a weekly basis.
  • Monitors equipment and patient care to assure that all seamlessly move the patient through the Perioperative continuum and clinical area.
  • Works closely with surgeons, anesthesia personnel, vendors, nursing staff and other hospital departments to progress the scheduled cases and accommodate add-on procedures.
  • Prepares the equipment and assists provider during procedures, treatments, examinations, and testing of patients.
  • Provides clinical supervision to staff, teaches and evaluates new technology and procedures in designated specialty area. identifies and resolves operational and conflict issues as they arise pertaining to specialty area
  • Participates in inventory counts.
  • Maintains up-to-date preference cards for specialty area.
  • Performs general nursing care to patients.
  • Coordinates the patient care activities for the clinic. Assists with clinic flow as an RN; rooming of patients, triaging calls, patient education and chart prep.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Board of Nursing An active license in the state of practice Upon Hire
  • 1-3 years experience in an OR setting or area of responsibility
