What Is the Opportunity?

As an AVP, BSI Strategy, you will serve as a senior strategic and operational leader responsible for shaping BSI's long-term direction, leading its process engineering function, and developing the team of professionals who deliver both. Reporting to the head of Strategic Planning & Execution, you will partner closely with BSI's senior leadership team to help shape BSI's long-term strategy, translate ambiguous priorities into clearly scoped, and high-impact initiatives. Success in this role means operating as a trusted advisor to BSI senior leaders and across BSI functions. This includes consistently delivering rigorous strategic analysis and actionable recommendations, coaching senior leaders through the strategy development process, driving alignment and buy-in across BSI functions, and building a high-performing team capable of executing both strategy engagements and process improvement work at the highest level of quality.

What Will You Do?

  • Partner with the head of Strategic Planning & Execution and BSI senior leadership to shape, pressure-test, and articulate BSI’s long-term strategy and growth roadmap, acting as a strategy thought partner to pull together disparate points of view leveraging BSI, enterprise and external data.
  • Lead discrete strategy engagements end-to-end. Including strategy development, growth planning, operating model and organizational design, and transformation. Setting the framework, work plan, analytical approach, and narrative for each.
  • Drive adoption of AI across the strategy and process engineering group, learning where to best leverage to generate value for the work.
  • Craft executive-ready communications that translate complex analysis into clear findings, strategic options, and recommendations that drive senior leader decisions and organizational action.
  • Conduct capability and market assessments, drawing on research and competitive intelligence where BSI should compete and how it should prioritize investments.
  • Lead the BSI process engineering function, setting its priorities, methodology, and standards, and directly connecting its work to the broader strategy agenda so that process improvement initiatives advance strategic goals.
  • Oversee the portfolio of process assessment and improvement projects, ensuring rigorous root-cause analysis and recommendations that improve efficiency, effectiveness, customer experience, and business results.
  • Manage the intake and prioritization of strategy and process improvement demand across BSI, allocating resources across teams and maintaining accountability for on-time, high-quality delivery.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Directors and Senior Directors across both strategy and process engineering disciplines, elevating capability and career development across functions.
  • Present findings and recommendations directly to senior leaders, provide ongoing project status updates, and maintain business alignment across all phases of the work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10 or more years of progressive experience in strategy, management consulting, or a related field, with a demonstrated record of advising senior executives on high-stakes decisions.
  • Experience in a management consulting or internal strategy consulting environment.
  • Insurance or financial services experience; specialty insurance knowledge a plus.
  • Meaningful experience leading or overseeing process improvement or operational excellence work.
  • Proven ability to structure ambiguous problems, design work plans, and drive analysis to a clear recommendation.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Master Black Belt) or equivalent demonstrated proficiency in process engineering methodologies.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify patterns, and translate insights into strategic recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Advanced communication, presentation, and influencing skills with the ability to present complex information to all levels of management in clear, relevant business terms.
  • A proven track record as a leader who is well-respected and highly organized, with the ability to coach and develop team members and strategically align resources to accomplish key objectives.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities and effectively lead in an agile environment.

What is a Must Have?

  • 8 years of experience in strategy, management consulting, process improvement, or a related field.
