Capital Medical Group (CMG) is seeking a full-time, fellowship-trained Shoulder & Elbow Surgeon to join the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at The George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC. This role offers a concurrent faculty appointment at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences (GW SMHS), a base salary plus wRVU productivity bonus and academic stipend compensation model, and the opportunity to teach orthopedic residents and medical students at an academic Level I Trauma Center, allowing you to focus on comprehensive shoulder and elbow care while working alongside a collaborative, multidisciplinary orthopedic team.

  • Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and treat the full spectrum of shoulder and elbow pathology, including rotator cuff and labral pathology, glenohumeral instability, traumatic, degenerative, and post-traumatic arthritis.
  • Perform arthroscopic and open shoulder procedures (rotator cuff repair, labral repair/stabilization, subacromial decompression).
  • Perform primary and revision shoulder arthroplasty, including anatomic and reverse total shoulder replacement.
  • Manage elbow trauma, tendinopathy, instability, and reconstructive procedures, including tendon transfers.
  • Provide inpatient consultation for shoulder and elbow trauma referred through the GW Hospital Level I Trauma Center.
  • Supervise orthopedic residents and medical students in clinic and the operating room as part of the Sports rotation
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and support staff to manage day-to-day clinical responsibilities
  • Document care using the GW Hospital / CMG electronic health record

  • Salary: Base salary + annual wRVU-based productivity incentive + academic stipend for GW SMHS teaching, mentorship, and scholarly responsibilities; final amount commensurate with training/experience and determined per CMG Fair Market Value compensation review

  • Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school, with successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency and completion of a fellowship in Shoulder & Elbow Surgery
  • Board Certified / Board Eligible by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS)
  • Active or eligible District of Columbia medical license
  • Eligible for and able to maintain medical staff privileges at GW Hospital and a faculty appointment at GW SMHS
