ABS is seeking an experienced Contract Creo Modeler to support the development of digital vessel and offshore asset models for engineering, classification, and technology initiatives. This hybrid position is based in Spring, Texas, with a combination of on-site and remote work.
The successful candidate will possess advanced expertise in PTC Creo Parametric and surface modeling. Related marine modeling applications such as HECSALV and Rhino are preferred. The role is responsible for creating, validating, and maintaining high-quality 3D models from vessel construction documentation while supporting ABS digital transformation initiatives and model-based workflows.
This position requires strong technical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
What You Will Do:
- Develop detailed 3D ship and offshore structure models in Creo from imported data and engineering and construction drawings provided in PDF and other electronic formats.
- Digitize vessel hull forms and create HECSALV and Creo models from available design documentation.
- Perform detailed technical reviews of 3D models to verify compliance with project requirements, applicable standards, and internal procedures.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews of 2D and 3D modeling activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Identify modeling challenges and recommend improvements to methodologies, procedures, and workflows.
- Experience with and knowledge of Windchill workflows.
- Support the development and maintenance of Critical Area Knowledge (CAK) libraries and digital model standards.
- Assist with preparing, managing, and uploading models into the Windchill Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
- Communicate project status, schedule impacts, and workload priorities to project stakeholders and team members.
- Collaborate effectively with engineers, surveyors, and project teams to ensure deliverables meet client expectations.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to broader team objectives.
- Participate in technical training and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Complete and comply with ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management System requirements and apply continuous improvement principles in daily work activities.
What You Will Need:
Education & Experience
- 3+ years of advanced Creo Parametric experience (or equivalent 3D modeling software experience).
- Understanding of Creo surfacing and ASDX options.
- Experience supporting marine, shipbuilding, offshore, or heavy industrial engineering projects preferred.
Diploma, associate degree, or higher in:
o Mechanical Engineering
o Structural Engineering
o Naval Architecture
o Marine Engineering
o Related technical discipline
Preferred Qualifications
- U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder).
- Experience with ABS classification, marine engineering, or digital ship model development.
- Experience with Windchill PLM and model-based engineering environments.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required
- Demonstrated ability to interpret large multi-page drawings such as shipbuilding, marine, or offshore structural drawings.
- Strong understanding of vessel arrangement, hull structure, marine terminology, and ship orientation.
- Advanced proficiency in PTC Creo Parametric for structural and marine modeling applications.
- Experience creating detailed 3D models of large structures such as marine and offshore structures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to recommend practical solutions.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and effectively manage workload schedules.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
- Familiarity with Windchill PLM systems is preferred.
- Understanding of ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management System requirements is desirable.
Reporting Relationships
- Reports to the Manager.
