Managing Director | Accounting Advisory Services

CBIZ is seeking a Managing Director with strong public accounting experience, strong leadership qualities and an ability to generate new business to help support and grow our Financial Accounting Advisory Services practice (FAAS). The Managing Director will be an integral part of the FAAS team primarily focused on managing and providing deep expertise on client engagements and helping build out the practice. This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and high energy team and to directly impact the performance, operations and success of the practice.
Essential Functions and Primary Duties
- Proven track record delivering transaction-oriented accounting and reporting services for mergers and acquisitions, carve-outs, complex capital raising and financing structures
- Deep technical expertise for various accounting topics such as equity versus debt classification, revenue recognition, lease accounting, business combinations, public company reporting rules and regulations, complex equity/liability awards other technical accounting matters
- Industry expertise and experience in non-financial services sectors
- Excels at building client relations, delivering high quality client service and providing mentorship to team members
- Collaborative approach working with the CBIZ professional standards group (subject matter experts)
- Develops new business relationships both internally at CBIZ and externally to generate new business and attract new talent.
- Collaborates across service lines to facilitate go-to-market strategies for client pursuits and generates cross-selling revenues
- Proactively uses professional network for talent acquisition and lead generation
- Successful at identifying and creating recurring revenue streams from advisory engagements
Preferred Qualifications
- 15 years’ experience in public accounting (audit or advisory) or in a corporate leadership position
- Familiarity and knowledge of application of SEC rules and regulations, including prior experience with IPO, reverse merger and SPAC transactions
- Understanding of and experience with application and research of U.S. GAAP and relevant auditing standards
- Ability to work independently in fast-paced, multi-tasked environment
- Ability to manage multiple workflows simultaneously while managing time and budget
- Well-developed aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis
- Ability to interface with team members and client personnel in demanding, deadline-driven situations
- Experience collaborating with tax, valuation and risk advisory professionals in problem solving situations
- Prior experience managing teams and the development of others
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 10 years of experience in public accounting or related field
- 10 years supervisory experience
- Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments and prioritize each assignment as necessary
- Proficient use of applicable technology
- Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
- Proven high level of business integrity, client service and leadership skills
- Must be able to travel based on client and business needs
