Software Engineering Senior Advisor – Data Engineering (Snowflake)
We’re looking for a seasoned data engineering leader who is excited to shape the future of healthcare through modern, scalable data solutions. As a Software Engineering Senior Advisor on Evernorth’s Customer Data Platform (CDP) Engineering team, you will lead hands‑on development and system architecture efforts that power some of our most critical technology initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to influence how data drives innovation across pharmacy and PBM services—working alongside passionate, collaborative teams committed to improving health outcomes through smarter technology.
Responsibilities
Focused on platform leadership, innovation, and measurable impact
• Lead the design, development, and optimization of enterprise‑scale data pipelines and architectures that support Evernorth’s Customer Data Platform.
• Serve as a technical leader for Snowflake, developing multi‑layered data models, optimizing performance, and ensuring cost‑efficient usage across environments.
• Design and deploy cloud‑native data solutions using AWS services to deliver scalable, secure, and resilient data pipelines.
• Drive Big Data engineering solutions using Apache Spark (Python or Scala) to process large‑scale structured and unstructured datasets in batch and real‑time modes.
• Build and manage reliable end‑to‑end data pipelines using modern orchestration and integration tools such as Airflow, NiFi, or DBT.
• Enable real‑time data ingestion and processing through streaming technologies such as Kafka, supporting event‑driven architectures.
• Partner closely with product, engineering, and analytics teams to translate business needs into high‑quality data solutions.
• Guide and collaborate with offshore development teams to deliver results on time and at scale.
• Continuously improve platform performance, scalability, and reliability by evaluating and adopting emerging tools and best practices.
• Contribute technical direction that aligns technology strategy with Evernorth’s broader business and growth objectives.
Ideal candidates will offer:
• Minimum 8+ years of experience in data engineering, building large‑scale data platforms and pipelines.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred, not required).
• 4+ years of hands‑on Snowflake experience, including data modeling, query optimization, and multi‑layered architecture design.
• Strong experience designing and implementing cloud data solutions, preferably on AWS (e.g., S3, EMR, EC2, Redshift, Athena, Lambda, Glue).
• Advanced experience with Big Data technologies such as Apache Spark (Python or Scala).
• Proficiency with data orchestration and integration tools such as Apache Airflow, Apache NiFi, or DBT.
• Strong SQL expertise across relational and columnar databases.
• Hands‑on experience with streaming platforms such as Kafka or equivalent.
• Proven ability to solve complex problems in distributed systems and lead through influence.
• Experience collaborating with offshore teams and working effectively across time zones.
• Familiarity with Agile delivery models and tools such as Jira and Git‑based version control systems.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins).
• Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform.
• Background working in healthcare, pharmacy, PBM, or other complex, regulated industries.
If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
