Job Description
The BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems’ (SMS) Facilities & Plant Operations teams support the sector's 35 properties representing over 2.2 million square feet of real estate primarily in Colorado. This established team of over 100 Facilities professionals is committed to service and support, continuous improvement, and creating and maintaining facilities which enable world class engineers and technicians to create a better, safer, and more informed and productive world. The Facilities Operational Excellence team manages the entire SMS real estate portfolio and manages the multi-million capital portfolio for many of the departments within the SMS Operations organization across BAE Systems campuses in Westminster, Broomfield, and Boulder.
We are seeking a candidate to be a part of the Facilities Operational Excellence team providing real estate management and strategic and tactical guidance in Facilities & Plant Operations aspects.
The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.
What You’ll Do:
- Support real estate activities including:
- Relationships with real estate brokers.
- Owner/property management interactions.
- Real estate transactions including new leases, lease renewals, and lease terminations.
- Monthly lease payments and issues.
- Provide Facilities & Plant Operations management with real estate tactics and decisions.
- Support facility and space strategies including:
- Facilities and Plant Operations organizational strategies and goals.
- Real estate strategies and facility/infrastructure strategies.
- Campus master site plans.
- Strategic Business Unit and Strategic Capability Unit relationships.
- Strategy & Space Utilization block plans.
- Support Facilities Operational Excellence Manager with facilities & plant fixed assets including
- Net Book Value determination and asset inventories
- Be the property insurance interface at the corporate level, support 3rd party risk evaluations and tours, and provide Finance with property insurance information.
- Support Facilities & Plant Operations with local and state tax incentives for facility and plant growth.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
Short Term Incentive: Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- BS/BA in related field plus 12 years or more related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Ability to orchestrate team members with differing points of view and capabilities across the line of business, both within the organization and externally, in an effort to accomplish tasks that harmonize short-term and long-term goals of the business.
- Highly developed communication skills to articulate and exchange complex information, often of a sensitive nature, amongst all levels of the organization including Executive Leadership team.
- Ability to exercise analytical thinking skills and practice resourcefulness in gathering additional information while evaluating and developing options for a variety of complex situations.
- Ability to use conceptual and innovative thinking in identifying solutions to problems and challenges.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess market trends and property conditions.
- Knowledge of real estate laws, regulations, and market dynamics.
- Experience forecasting costs and budgets; ability to partner with Finance on business modeling.
- Experience working as a cross functional team leader directing the development of new initiatives.
- Requires strong knowledge and proven experience in utilizing business principles, concepts, practices, and standards.
- Ability to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner.
- Ability to meet deadlines, with solid organization skills, with attention to detail and priorities.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Solid MS Excel skills, along with other MS Office Products.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $134640 - $228888
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
