Performance Engineer I
JOB PURPOSE
As DP world progresses in its mission of being a global trade enabler, we are looking for an engineer who loves working on a highly complex distributed web application.
In this role, you will be working with cross-functional teams across the company to benchmark systems performance and finding performance issues. You will own performance test plans and execution for large-scale projects. You will own components and services from a performance aspect, and work with Products, Developer, Infra, and SDET in delivering high-quality software. You will perform various activities not just limited to performance test script development, tool, and framework development, performance benchmarking, load and stress testing, performance optimization, capacity planning, etc. You will work with software engineering leaders to cross-leverage performance testing solutions that are available in the market or that are being built in other teams.
To be successful in this role, you should have excellent time management and organizational skills as well as strong communication skills. You should be self-driven and passionate about solving performance issues and have the ability to upgrade your technical skills within the constantly changing technology sector.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Design and development of performance test tools, framework, and automation.
Design and execute the performance test plan to validate system performance and stability.
Analyze test results, resource utilization, configuration, and other system metrics to identify issues and suggest changes to improve system performance, capacity, reliability, and scalability.
Work with developers, SDET, and other stakeholders in fixing performance issues.
Design and conduct tests with complex workloads and data shapes to expose potential bottlenecks and failure points.
Validate fail-over/recovery scenarios and measures any impact to response times and interruptions during the execution of such scenarios.
Derive performance improvement opportunities by analyzing production metrics and trends.
Design and develop Performance Engineering aides like profiles, traces, or any observability framework.
Participate in performance requirements and planning discussions to prepare performance test plan/strategy creation.
Prepare performance test reports with observations and recommendations.
Researching performance test tools, methodologies, and trends and upgrading existing practices and processes.
OTHER

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
1.6-4 years of work experience in performance testing and analysis, preferably of a large-scale distributed web application in a cloud environment such as AWS, Azure.
Strong hands-on experience in at least one programming language. Should be able to code independently.
Strong experience with open-source performance testing tools (JMeter preferred) and frameworks.
The ability to recognize performance issues and risk in a distributed web application.
Good understanding of distributed systems, computer architecture, and operating systems.
Experience in analyzing the CPU Utilization, Memory usage, Network usage, Garbage Collection, and DB Parameters and DB Report verifying the performance of the applications. Thread dump analysis.
Container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases
The ability to deal with ambiguous/undefined problems, isolating them and finding the root cause.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Good time management and organizational skills.
The ability to keep current with the constantly changing technology industry.
