OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE
The India Senior Specialist is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end payroll operation for India, ensuring full compliance with Indian payroll legislation, labour laws, taxation requirements, and statutory obligations. The role will serve as the primary local payroll subject matter expert supporting first the implementation of ADP GlobalView India and after go live, will be responsible for the payroll operations end to end ensuring payroll services are delivered accurately and efficiently through ADP Managed Services
The position will act as a key liaison between APAC Payroll, HR, Finance, ADP Managed Services.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Payroll Operations Management
Manage the monthly payroll process for India in partnership with ADP Managed Services.
Review and validate payroll inputs, outputs, statutory calculations, and payroll reconciliations.
Ensure payroll processing is completed accurately and within established service levels.
Oversee payroll controls, audit requirements, and compliance activities.
Support year-end payroll activities, tax reporting, and statutory filings.
GlobalView / SAP Payroll Support
Act as the India payroll support during the ADP GlobalView implementation.
Support configuration workshops, testing activities, parallel payrolls, user acceptance testing (UAT), and go-live activities.
Validate payroll schemas, wage types, earnings, deductions, and statutory calculations.
Provide expertise on local labour requirements
Collaborate with global and local project teams to ensure the solution meets India regulatory and business requirements.
Compliance & Labour Law Expertise
Maintain extensive knowledge of Indian payroll legislation and labour regulations, including but not limited to:
Provident Fund (PF)
Employee State Insurance (ESI)
Professional Tax
Labour Welfare Fund
Income Tax and TDS requirements
Gratuity
Bonus Act
Shops and Establishments Act requirements
Leave and attendance regulations
Monitor legislative changes and translate requirements into payroll processes and system configurations.
Provide guidance to internal stakeholders regarding statutory and regulatory obligations.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
Serve as the primary operational contact for ADP Managed Services in India after go live.
Drive issue resolution, service reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Partner with HR, Finance, Rewards, and Employee Services teams to resolve payroll-related matters.
Ensure adherence to contractual service levels and operational commitments.
Governance & Continuous Improvement
Implement and maintain payroll controls, documentation, and standard operating procedures.
Identify opportunities for process standardisation, automation, and operational efficiency.
Support internal and external audit requests

Experience
8+ years of payroll experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory or lead payroll role.
Extensive experience managing payroll operations in India.
Proven knowledge of Indian labour legislation, statutory compliance, and payroll taxation and payments.
Experience working with outsourced or managed payroll service providers.
Hands-on experience with SAP Payroll and/or ADP GlobalView strongly preferred.
Experience supporting payroll system implementations, migrations, or transformation programmes.
Experience in a multinational environment preferred.
Technical Skills
SAP Payroll and/or ADP GlobalView knowledge.
Strong understanding of payroll controls and audit requirements.
Payroll reconciliation and reporting expertise.
Understanding of interfaces functionality and control
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Familiarity with Workday and ADP GV integrations is advantageous.
