Customer Success Engineering (CSE) within the Commercial Engineering and AI (CEAI) organization builds and manages critical products and services that Microsoft runs on. We pursue big ideas that power transformational advances for Microsoft and its customers while helping teams work smarter, faster, and more securely every day.

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join Customer Success Engineering (CSE), where we are building the next generation of AI-powered and Agentic applications on Microsoft Cloud. You will work alongside experienced engineers, product managers, designers, and data scientists to develop intelligent solutions that leverage Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, and cloud-native technologies.

In this role, you will help design, build, and operate scalable services and user experiences that enable business transformation through AI agents, automation, and conversational experiences. You'll gain hands-on experience with modern engineering practices, including AI-assisted development, responsible AI, cloud-native architecture, observability, and continuous delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy cloud-native applications and services using modern software engineering practices.
  • Build and enhance intelligent business applications leveraging Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI and agentic frameworks.
  • Develop full-stack solutions using technologies such as C#, .NET, React, REST APIs, and cloud services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality features aligned with business and customer needs.
  • Integrate AI agents, workflow automation, and conversational experiences into enterprise applications.
  • Build and maintain APIs, data models, and integrations utilizing services such as Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, and other Microsoft cloud platforms.
  • Utilize AI-assisted engineering tools, including GitHub Copilot and agentic development workflows, to improve productivity and software quality.
  • Learn and apply Responsible AI principles, security requirements, and engineering standards in all stages of software development.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related technical discipline with proven experience in coding languages including, but not limited to, C#, ASP.Net core, React
    • OR equivalent experience. 

Additional Requirements: 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:    

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.   

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of full stack development experience with a passion to develop enterprise level software with high-quality standards. 
  • Experience with Azure services, cloud-native application development, or containerized workloads.
  • Exposure to AI, machine learning, large language models (LLMs), agentic applications, or intelligent automation solutions.
  • Familiarity with Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI Service, Semantic Kernel, or similar AI development frameworks.
  • Understanding of observability, monitoring, telemetry, and operational excellence practices.
  • Experience with DevOps, GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and software quality engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within diverse teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
  • Passion for building AI-first experiences and helping shape the future of agentic software development.

Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $85,400 - $168,100 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $111,100 - $183,700 per year.
