About this Role
We are seeking a Data Scientist, Big Data and Advanced Analytics to deliver analytical and decision services for Vodafone businesses across global markets. This role supports OpCo stakeholders by understanding business challenges, defining scope and outcomes, and developing structured, data-backed analytics solutions that create measurable business impact. The role is based in Pune and sits within DAIS/CFSL/VOIS, with reporting into the Analytics leadership team.
The role focuses on building, deploying and re-engineering analytics solutions across descriptive, inferential, predictive and prescriptive analytics. The individual will use advanced analytics, machine learning and cloud big data platforms to develop scalable solutions, automate delivery and present actionable insights to business stakeholders.
What you’ll do
- Support the build and deployment of analytical solutions, including models, hypotheses, analyses and scenarios across descriptive, inferential, predictive and prescriptive analytics.
- Reuse and enhance existing data models, insights and analyses from across Vodafone to improve business outcomes and delivery efficiency.
- Drive automation and standardisation in analytical service delivery to improve consistency, scalability and productivity.
- Partner with business stakeholders to agree scope, deliverables, processes and expected outcomes for analytics products and services.
- Present analysis, model results and impact assessments to business stakeholders in a clear and actionable way.
- Develop reusable analytical products, including documentation and, where appropriate, enablement materials or training.
- Visualise results and prepare outputs that help stakeholders interpret insights and make informed decisions.
Who you are
- You have 5+ years of experience building predictive machine learning models on cloud big data platforms, with experience delivering 10+ models.
- You have strong hands-on experience with PySpark, Hive, advanced SQL, classification models, feature engineering and Git.
- You are experienced in complex SQL joins and working with large cloud datasets, including datasets with more than 10 million rows.
- You have practical experience with Python and a sound understanding of machine learning, analytical and statistical techniques.
- You have worked on predictive modelling projects with real business impact, including use cases involving monetary outcomes.
- You are comfortable working with structured and unstructured data at scale and applying strong data manipulation and analysis techniques.
- You have experience with supervised and unsupervised machine learning use cases, including binary classification, multi-class classification, forecasting and regression models.
- You bring strong communication, presentation, analytical and logical thinking skills.
- You have exposure to AWS or GCP, big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive or Pig, and tools or approaches such as deep learning, H2O AutoML, NLP, LLM or GenAI.
- Experience with geospatial analysis would be beneficial.
- You are open to working from Pune or Bangalore, with Pune listed as the role location.
