Public Area Supervisor - NoMad Singapore
OVERVIEW OF ROLE
The Public Area Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the cleanliness, presentation, and maintenance of all public areas within the hotel, ensuring a consistently high standard of hygiene, safety, and guest-facing appearance.
This role supervises Public Area Attendants, ensuring all cleaning tasks are carried out efficiently and in accordance with brand standards. The Public Area Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining the hotel’s overall visual impression by ensuring lobbies, restrooms, corridors, function rooms, and other public spaces are always well-presented, safe, and welcoming.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The main responsibilities of the Public Area Supervisor are summarised below; however, the list is not exhaustive.
PUBLIC AREA CLEANING & QUALITY CONTROL
• Inspect all public areas of the hotel, including lobbies, corridors, restaurants, function rooms, and restrooms.
• Ensure proper cleaning, vacuuming, and maintenance of all public spaces.
• Conduct frequent checks of restrooms to ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are consistently met.
• Ensure back-of-house areas such as backstairs and corridors are clean and well-maintained.
• Verify that flowers, plants, and decorative elements are in good condition and replaced when necessary.
TEAM SUPERVISION & ASSIGNMENT MANAGEMENT
• Distribute daily assignments to Public Area Attendants.
• Supervise staff performance and ensure tasks are completed to standard.
• Record daily attendance and assist with duty roster preparation.
• Provide training, guidance, and supervision to ensure proper cleaning techniques and procedures.
• Monitor grooming, hygiene, and presentation standards of team members.
EQUIPMENT, CHEMICALS & STORES MANAGEMENT
• Ensure all cleaning equipment is functional, clean, and properly stored.
• Supervise the proper use and handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the Public Area storeroom.
• Ensure adequate supplies of chemicals, tools, and cleaning materials are available.
• Report faulty equipment and follow up on necessary repairs.
MAINTENANCE & COORDINATION
• Report damages to carpets, furniture, and fixtures promptly to Engineering for repair.
• Follow up on urgent maintenance issues affecting public areas.
• Coordinate with Engineering and other departments to ensure timely resolution of issues.
• Ensure smooth execution of cleaning schedules for VIP events and high-traffic periods.
GUEST EXPERIENCE & SERVICE QUALITY
• Ensure all public areas reflect high standards of cleanliness and presentation at all times.
• Maintain a welcoming and visually appealing environment for guests.
• Deliver service excellence through attention to detail and proactive area management.
• Respond to guest feedback and ensure corrective actions are implemented where needed.
ADMINISTRATION & REPORTING
• Assist in preparing duty rosters and managing staff scheduling.
• Record attendance and monitor team productivity.
• Ensure proper documentation of maintenance issues, cleaning schedules, and operational reports.
• Support cost control through efficient use of supplies and resources.
HEALTH, SAFETY & COMPLIANCE
• Ensure compliance with hotel safety, hygiene, and emergency procedures.
• Follow proper handling procedures for chemicals and cleaning equipment.
• Maintain a safe working environment for both guests and team members.
• Adhere to hotel policies, brand standards, and operational guidelines at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum 2 years of experience in housekeeping/public area operations or 1 year in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of cleaning procedures, chemicals, and equipment usage.
• Ability to lead and supervise a small team effectively.
• Good communication skills in English (written and verbal).
• Physically fit and able to perform duties in a demanding environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness standards.
• Good organisational and coordination skills.
• Positive attitude and strong sense of responsibility.
