Job Overview

We are looking for a Scientist, Formulation Scientist to support the development, optimization, and characterization of formulations for nucleic acid delivery reagents.

In this role, you will contribute to the development of lipid- and nanoparticle-based delivery systems by performing hands-on laboratory work, executing formulation studies, and generating high-quality experimental data. You will support R&D projects from early-stage research through development, working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

This role is a strong fit for a scientist who enjoys practical laboratory work, analytical characterization, and collaborative problem-solving. You will work closely with R&D, Synthetic Chemistry, Analytical Development, Process Development, Manufacturing, Quality Control, Regulatory Affairs, Biology, and Program Management teams.

We are looking for someone curious, proactive, team-oriented, and comfortable working in a global, multidisciplinary environment. Strong communication and collaboration skills are important for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design, development, and characterization of formulations for nucleic acid delivery systems, including lipid- and nanoparticle-based platforms

  • Execute formulation studies under guidance from senior scientists to evaluate critical quality attributes, including particle size, encapsulation efficiency, stability, and physicochemical properties

  • Perform hands-on laboratory work to prepare, test, and optimize formulation compositions and process parameters

  • Contribute to improving formulation performance, reproducibility, and manufacturability through experimental work

  • Support R&D and Biology teams by generating experimental data linking formulation properties to functional performance

  • Perform analytical characterization using techniques such as DLS, UV-Vis spectroscopy, HPLC/UHPLC, LC-MS, and other applicable methods

  • Support stability studies and contribute data to development and technology transfer activities under supervision

  • Maintain accurate laboratory documentation, including lab notebooks, study records, and technical reports

  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety requirements, GMP/GLP principles where applicable, and data integrity standards

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to support project milestones

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the formulation development team

  • Stay current with advances in nucleic acid delivery technologies, lipid nanoparticle formulation, and analytical characterization

Experience and Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related scientific field

  • 0–2 years of experience in formulation development, laboratory-based research, or a related scientific area

  • Experience or academic exposure to drug delivery systems, nanoparticles, lipid-based formulations, or similar topics

  • Basic experience with analytical techniques such as DLS, HPLC/UHPLC, UV-Vis spectroscopy, LC-MS, or similar methods (academic or industry)

  • Experience performing laboratory experiments, formulation work, or stability studies

  • Strong written and spoken English skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of nucleic acid delivery systems or lipid nanoparticles

  • Interest in analytical method development and validation concepts

  • Exposure to GMP/GLP or regulated laboratory environments (academic or industry)

  • Interest in pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical product development

  • Experience working in a research or industrial laboratory environment during studies or internships

Compensation

The monthly salary range estimated for this position based in Lithuania is €2 183,33–€3 270,83.
