Position Summary
Thales’ Payment Business Line has a vacancy for a highly skilled Technical Presales Engineer to join our Presales team and provide payment domain and technical expertise in our D1 Platform as part of our modern card issuance program. As a Technical Presales Engineer, the successful candidate will work closely with the Sales teams and be responsible for translating business needs into technical implementation specifications, he will leverage his unique knowledge in the payment ecosystem to provide field feedback to the product team and improve Thales services.
The Technical Presales Engineer will drive the functional and technical requirements of selected opportunities from qualification to closing to maximize Thales’ chances of winning the business and ensuring smooth transition to the delivery organization. In this role, you will identify all technology and functional roadblocks in the different sales stages and find a solution to put the Thales proposal ahead of competition.
The Technical Presales Engineer provides deep technical expertise during the presales phases and performs handover to the Thales delivery team within the Modern Card Issuance Program and for specific priority customers.
The Technical Presales Engineer role is allocated by region as opposed to specific accounts/sectors.
Key Areas Of Responsibilities
- Collaborate with sales team to identify customer needs and requirements and design the best technical solutions to meet those needs using Thales platforms.
- Present to customers during pre-sales on the use of our physical card services, including personalization, onboarding, configuration & solution design, and architecture. Develop and deliver Thales Modern Card Issuance product demonstrations and presentations to customers, both in-person and remotely.
- Conduct technical assessments of customer requirements, to provide a streamlined offer that meets customer needs while minimizing the customization requirements for Thales. Work closely with the regional Business Owners & Solution Designer groups during pre-sales and assure consistency of the customer scope with Thales product features and roadmaps.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, products, and services in the Digital Payment space. Support Sales Executives during meetings with customer technical teams to present our APIs, Flows, product configurations, services, interfaces, and so forth.
- Write the Technical elements of our customer offers and collaborate with the Solution Design team to identify gaps and potential customization needs. Coordinate necessary inputs for the P&L calculation to be done by Sales. Example: customization needs, costs review, etc…
- Provide assistance to marketing by creating content including demo videos, sales demo environments, case studies, blog posts and other collateral. Provide structured feedback and work closely with Thales’s product engineering teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong technical background in Payments and Card Issuance and Personalization Services. payment gateways, and merchant services, closed and open loop payment networks. Good understanding of server and mobile APIs, SaaS, Cloud and Security principles
- Understanding of compliance topics: PCI-DSS, ISO27001, SOC2, GDPR, DORA.
- Experience in customer-facing roles, conducting product demonstrations and presentations to customers.
- Familiar with modern web applications and software architecture. Experienced working with demos and mobile applications.
- Degree in Engineering or another technical relevant field of study; or equivalent work experience. Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency in English is a must, Spanish or Portuguese is a plus.
Special Position Requirements
Willingness to travel as needed and up to 30%.
