State Street is seeking a talented and motivated Software Engineer to join the IMSWest Remediation Engineering team in Hangzhou. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting remediation solutions that improve platform stability, operational resilience, controls effectiveness, and engineering efficiency. 

The successful candidate will work closely with senior engineers, architects, business analysts, and production support teams to modernize critical applications, automate manual processes, and reduce operational risk across the IMSWest platform.

Key Responsibilities 

Software Development 

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality software solutions supporting IMSWest remediation initiatives. 

  • Participate in application modernization, technical debt reduction, and platform improvement programs. 

  • Develop scalable, maintainable, and secure solutions following engineering best practices. 

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex application issues. 

Remediation Delivery 

  • Implement remediation solutions addressing audit findings, control gaps, operational risks, and stability concerns. 

  • Support initiatives to improve data quality, system reliability, and process automation. 

  • Participate in root-cause analysis and corrective action implementation for production incidents. 

  • Contribute to control validation and resilience improvement projects. 

Engineering Excellence 

  • Perform code reviews and maintain high standards of software quality. 

  • Develop automated unit, integration, and regression tests. 

  • Support CI/CD pipeline adoption and automation initiatives. 

  • Follow SDLC, governance, and change management standards. 

Production Support & Stability 

  • Support production issue investigation and resolution when required. 

  • Work with Production Support, SRE, and Observability teams to improve monitoring and diagnostics. 

  • Identify opportunities to eliminate recurring incidents through automation and engineering improvements. 

  • Participate in on-call support and critical incident response activities as needed. 

Collaboration 

  • Work effectively with global development teams across multiple regions. 

  • Partner with business analysts, product owners, and architects to deliver business requirements. 

  • Provide accurate status updates and communicate risks proactively. 

  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and technical documentation. 

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline. 

  • 5+ years of software development experience. 

  • Strong programming skills in Java and object-oriented design. 

  • Experience with REST APIs, databases, and distributed systems. 

  • Familiarity with GitHub, Jenkins, Maven, SonarQube, and modern development tools. 

  • Understanding of Agile development methodologies. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience in financial services or mission-critical enterprise applications. 

  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure. 

  • Familiarity with Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana, or monitoring platforms. 

  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and automation frameworks. 

  • Understanding of operational controls, application support, and production environments.
