Job Role: Bookkeeper & Administration Assistant

Compensation range: $1,800 AUD - $2,200 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote so you'll be able to work from home.

Who The Client Is: This is an established Australian business group operating across multiple essential service industries, including retail, freight operations, post office and household gas supplier.  They manage several business divisions under multiple ownership groups and are looking for a reliable team member to support their finance and administrative functions. The business values accuracy, organisation, and someone who can confidently manage day-to-day tasks while working across multiple stakeholders.

Role Overview: The role involves supporting the day-to-day bookkeeping and administrative operations across multiple business entities, including invoicing, reconciliations, BAS preparation support, and administrative coordination between internal teams and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have strong Xero experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to confidently manage a varied workload independently.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Manage weekly invoicing processes and maintain accurate financial records
  • Perform daily reconciliations using Xero
  • Assist with BAS preparation and organise supporting documentation (excluding lodgement)
  • Process and maintain invoice records, including scanning and organising paper-based invoices
  • Support email and administrative coordination between internal teams, freight partners, and external stakeholders
  • Maintain organised financial documentation and records
  • Provide general administrative support across multiple business operations

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in bookkeeping, accounts administration, or a similar finance support role
  • Strong experience using Xero accounting software
  • Experience with invoicing, reconciliations, and general accounts processes
  • Understanding of BAS preparation requirements (BAS lodgement experience is not required)
  • Experience supporting Australian businesses and familiarity with Australian bookkeeping processes is highly desirable
  • General administrative experience, with the ability to confidently manage varied tasks across multiple business entities
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Comfortable working independently and communicating with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience supporting small to medium-sized businesses or multiple business entities is highly desirable
