Job Description:

Grata is the leading private market dealmaking platform. We make it easy to find, research, and engage with private companies. Our platform has the most comprehensive, accurate, and searchable proprietary data on private companies, their financials, and their owners. 

We help leading investors (PE/growth), investment bankers, management consultants, and corporate development teams discover and win more deals. Grata has over 700 customers and has been widely recognized as the market leader by G2, PE Wire, and more. 

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Product Manager, AI Search & Discovery to lead the development of Grata’s core discovery engine – how dealmakers search, explore, and build conviction on the right companies. In this role, you will define, strategize, implement, and optimize AI-native search and discovery workflows. 

As a Senior Product Manager at Grata, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deeply understand customer needs, prioritize the highest-impact opportunities, and work closely with engineering to deliver high-quality experiences. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our AI-powered discovery experiences adhere to industry standards, maintain reliability and trust, and scale effectively with the evolving needs of our growing business.

Grata is a hybrid company, which means our employees work from our NYC office on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. 

At Grata, we will expect you to: 

  • Build a deep understanding of customer needs, pain points, and behaviors by partnering with commercial teams and conducting user research and data analysis 

  • Develop strategic roadmaps with clear milestones and measurable metrics to achieve ambitious goals and track progress effectively 

  • Work across design, engineering, data science, QA, and product marketing to define and ship the roadmap for external facing semantic search, ranking, recommendations, and LLM/RAG-powered discovery workflows 

  • Prioritize initiatives ruthlessly using a data-driven approach to maximize impact and deliver customer value  balancing quality, latency, cost, and reliability in production AI systems 

  • Craft detailed requirements informed by customer conversations, usage data analysis, and iterative feedback from design and engineering teams  translating needs into clear specs 

  • Establish yourself as the go-to expert and trusted leader for Search & Discovery quality, building credibility through ownership, measurable improvements, and continuous iteration 

  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders, distilling complex AI search concepts into clear insights that drive alignment across the organization 

What we are looking for: 

  • 4+ years of search product management experience and 1+ year of experience within private capital markets 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain tradeoffs and outcomes clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders 

  • Experience developing a vision and roadmap for an area of a product  ideally Search, Discovery, Ranking, Recommendations, and/or AI/ML-powered workflows 

  • Experience building high-quality, successful products with design, data science, and engineering teams, including launching and iterating using measurable KPIs 

  • Experience performing customer research to better understand your customers and uncover their true needs around search intent, relevance expectations, and decision-making workflows 

  • Can partner and influence effectively across all levels of an organization, and regularly use these skills to improve the work going on around you 

  • Experience in a prior startup or high-ambiguity environment; a track record of managing ambiguity and complexity affecting many stakeholders in an organized and structured way 

  • Experience with data analysis (using SQL/R/Python), metrics, and goal-setting  you’ve defined and owned metrics for search relevance and discovery success (offline and online) 

  • Interested in an office-centric culture with a flexible work environment 

Nice to have: 

  • Vector search/embeddings, hybrid retrieval, reranking, query understanding, or ANN indexing experience 

  • ElasticSearch/OpenSearch (or similar) familiarity 

  • Hands-on experience with GenAI evaluation/monitoring (goldens, rubrics, regression, drift, hallucinations, prompt injection) 

  • Familiarity with AI governance basics (PII, access control, auditability)

The base salary range represents the estimated low and high end for this position based on a good faith assessment of the role and market data at the time of posting. Consistent with applicable law, each candidate’s compensation offer may vary and will be determined based on but not limited to, your geographic region, skills, qualifications, and experience along with the requirements of the position. This position may be eligible for bonuses, commissions, or overtime if applicable. Benefits include health insurance (medical, dental, vision), a retirement savings plan, paid time off, and other employee benefits. Specific details will be provided during the interview process. Datasite reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.

$118,800.00 - $207,200.00
