Senior Full Stack Developer

Remote$100k–$175kPosted Jul 28, 2026

Overview

LMI is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to help architect, build, and extend IronSled, a Platform as a Service designed to host applications in secure federal environments. You will be a senior technical contributor on a small, cross-functional product team responsible for evolving the platform and establishing the engineering practices, architecture, and technical foundation needed for its long-term success.

This is not a role focused on maintaining a backlog or implementing narrowly defined tickets. You will own complex capabilities from concept through production, make consequential technical decisions, identify and resolve architectural risks, and help guide less-experienced engineers. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating with significant autonomy in an environment where the roadmap and technical approach are still being formed.

This position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required. The position also includes quarterly travel for in-person team planning and collaboration events.

About the Team

IronSled sits within LMI’s Chief Technology Office. We are a small, high-visibility team building a secure application-hosting platform for federal agencies. Our culture operates more like a product-focused startup than a traditional government contracting program. We move quickly, use focused design spikes to resolve uncertainty, and prioritize working outcomes over unnecessary process.

At the same time, we are building for users who require reliability, security, auditability, and trust. Strong engineering judgment, disciplined execution, and attention to detail are essential.

You will work closely with the Product Manager, Engineering Lead, platform engineers, and product stakeholders. Because the IronSled roadmap and architecture are continuing to evolve, you will have meaningful influence over the platform’s technical direction, engineering standards, and user experience.

LMI is a new breed of digital solutions provider dedicated to accelerating government impact through innovation and speed. By investing in technology and prototypes ahead of need, LMI delivers commercial-grade platforms and mission-ready artificial intelligence capabilities to federal agencies at commercial speed.

Headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, LMI supports the defense, space, healthcare, and energy sectors, helping agencies navigate complexity, modernize critical capabilities, and strengthen mission outcomes.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Own complex full stack features from architecture and data design through deployment and production support.
  • Build across Angular, TypeScript/Express, PostgreSQL, and external platform integrations.
  • Make technical decisions involving APIs, identity, permissions, security, reliability, and data architecture.
  • Partner directly with product leadership to turn ambiguous needs into practical solutions.
  • Establish engineering standards, review designs and code, and mentor other engineers.
  • Identify technical risks, improve platform architecture, and balance delivery speed with long-term maintainability.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including ownership of production full stack applications.
  • Strong experience with TypeScript, Angular, Node.js or Python, PostgreSQL, and RESTful API design.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex features and make sound architectural decisions.
  • Experience with authentication, authorization, secure application design, testing, and production troubleshooting.
  • Ability to operate effectively with incomplete requirements and limited day-to-day direction.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and improving team development practices.
  • Active use of AI-assisted development tools in a disciplined engineering workflow.
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance.

What Will Set You Apart

  • Experience working on a PaaS, internal developer platform, developer portal, or cloud-native product.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, GitOps, CI/CD pipelines, containers, and event-driven integrations.
  • Experience integrating with GitLab, Okta, Entra ID, OIDC, SAML, Trivy, Fleet, or similar technologies.
  • Experience developing software under federal security and compliance requirements.
  • Experience across cloud and on-premises environments.
  • A strong portfolio, open-source contributions, or other evidence of building products outside assigned work.
