Cloud Solution Engineer 3
Are you early in your cloud engineering career and looking for an opportunity to grow while working on large-scale government modernization programs? Do you enjoy solving technical problems, learning new technologies, and working directly with experienced engineers and customer teams?
Oracle Government, Defense, and Intelligence is looking for a Cloud Solution Engineer to join our Federal Civilian Cloud Solution Engineering team. In this role, you will work alongside senior Oracle cloud architects, solution engineers, account teams, and federal customers to help drive mission success through the adoption, modernization, and effective use of OCI services across mission-critical government environments.
This is a hybrid position that involves regular in-office and/or customer-site work. Candidates must be based in the greater Washington, DC area.
What Makes This Opportunity Unique
This role is designed for someone earlier in their career who wants to build deep technical expertise in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure while supporting some of the most important public sector missions in the country.
You will not be expected to know everything on day one. Instead, you will work with experienced Oracle engineers and architects who will help you grow your skills in cloud infrastructure, databases, application modernization, networking, security, analytics, engineered systems, and AI-enabled services.
You will gain hands-on experience supporting federal customers as they move from opportunity development to cloud adoption, implementation, and operations. The role offers a path to grow into more senior cloud architecture and presales engineering responsibilities over time.
What You’ll Do
- Partner with senior Oracle architects, solution engineers, account teams, and customer technical stakeholders to understand business and technical requirements.
- Support discovery sessions, architecture workshops, technical discussions, and solution planning activities.
- Help design, document, and implement Oracle Cloud Infrastructure solutions across compute, storage, networking, security, databases, and application modernization.
- Assist with cloud migration planning, workload assessments, implementation support, and efforts to expand customer adoption and use of OCI services.
- Learn and apply Oracle Cloud security best practices and support federal compliance requirements such as FedRAMP and related governance models.
- Support customer adoption of OCI services across areas such as cloud infrastructure, databases, data and analytics, integration, DevOps, and AI capabilities.
- Create technical documentation, diagrams, implementation notes, solution summaries, and customer-facing materials.
- Participate in tailored demonstrations, proof-of-concept activities, technical enablement, and customer workshops.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and help customers successfully adopt Oracle cloud services.
- Build technical depth through mentorship, training, certifications, and hands-on experience with senior engineers.
- Travel up to 30% as needed.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- U.S. Citizenship is required for federal customer engagement.
- 2–5 years of experience in cloud engineering, cloud platform engineering, systems engineering, database administration, software engineering, technical consulting, or a related technical role.
- Familiarity with at least one cloud platform such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Foundational understanding of networking, virtualization, operating systems, databases, cloud infrastructure, or application platforms.
- Exposure to scripting, automation, DevOps practices, or infrastructure-as-code is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and curiosity about how complex systems work.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to teammates, customers, and project stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate across engineering, sales, product, partner, and customer teams.
- Willingness to learn, take feedback, and grow into broader customer-facing responsibilities.
- Relevant cloud certifications, such as OCI, AWS, Azure, or GCP, are preferred.
Core Competencies for Success
We are looking for high-potential engineers who can grow into broader responsibilities over time. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong collaboration, communication, customer focus, adaptability, and execution discipline.
You should be able to build relationships, work effectively with others, communicate clearly, use customer and technical insights to identify opportunities, make decisions in uncertain situations, and use metrics and outcomes to stay focused on results.
