Strategic Procurement Sourcing & Supplier Management Leader
Description -
This role is responsible for leading strategic procurement initiatives across complex global categories, developing and executing sourcing strategies that drive cost competitiveness, supply continuity, supplier innovation, and business growth. The role serves as a trusted advisor to business leaders by providing procurement market intelligence, supplier cost analysis, commercial guidance, and risk management expertise.
The position leads supplier selection, commercial negotiations, contract management, supplier performance programs, and total cost optimization initiatives while building strategic partnerships with key suppliers and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Category Management
- Develop and execute category sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives, cost targets, and long-term procurement goals.
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives including market assessments, supplier evaluations, RFx processes, and supplier selection activities.
- Continuously assess market dynamics, industry trends, and supplier landscapes to identify sourcing opportunities and risks.
Supplier Cost Analysis & Cost Management
- Lead comprehensive supplier cost analyses, including should-cost modeling, cost breakdown analysis, benchmarking and value engineering initiatives.
- Identify cost reduction opportunities through supplier negotiations, process improvements, productivity programs, and alternative sourcing strategies.
- Support business decision-making through detailed financial analysis, scenario modeling, and commercial evaluations.
- Monitor commodity trends, inflation impacts, and market cost drivers to proactively manage procurement risks and opportunities.
Supplier Relationship Management
- Manage strategic supplier relationships and serve as the primary interface for critical suppliers.
- Drive with SCM team, supplier performance management programs focused on cost, quality, delivery, innovation, responsiveness, and risk mitigation.
- Establish supplier development plans and conduct executive business reviews to ensure continuous performance improvement.
- Collaborate with suppliers to identify innovation opportunities, operational efficiencies, and business value creation initiatives.
Commercial Negotiations & Contract Management
- Lead complex commercial negotiations with strategic suppliers to achieve favorable pricing, contractual terms, risk protection, and business outcomes.
- Develop negotiation strategies utilizing market intelligence, cost modeling, and commercial analysis.
- Lead contract development and execution for critical supplier agreements.
- Ensure contractual compliance and proactively manage supplier obligations, commercial exposure, and renewal strategies.
Procurement Risk Management
- Identify and assess supplier-related risks including financial health, capacity constraints, geopolitical exposure, single-source dependencies, and contractual risks.
- Develop and implement mitigation strategies to ensure business continuity and supply assurance.
- Advise senior leadership on commercial and supplier-related risk areas and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies for critical suppliers and categories.
Executive Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with business leaders, finance, operations, engineering, and product teams to align procurement strategies with organizational objectives.
- Present sourcing strategies, supplier insights, cost analyses, and risk assessments to executive leadership.
- Influence procurement decisions through data-driven recommendations and strategic market intelligence.
- Support business growth initiatives by ensuring supplier capabilities align with future business requirements.
Continuous Improvement & Procurement Excellence
- Drive procurement best practices, process improvements, and category management excellence across the organization.
- Implement analytical tools, dashboards, and performance metrics to improve procurement decision-making.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance supplier performance, reduce costs, and strengthen procurement governance.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and strategic value creation within procurement activities.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Typically 10+ years of experience in Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, Supplier Management, Category Management, or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex global suppliers, commercial negotiations, and strategic sourcing initiatives.
- English fluency is required, Spanish is desirable
